Ya it's kinda weird, from what I've seen they will try to get it fixed or parts replaced or do a hole new upper.

Does the side chargers still have a regular charging handle? I was wondering what would happen if the side charging handle broke or fell off.

Bear creek used to, but they don't anymore.
Cross Machine Tool has both.
Lantac has both.
Eisenach has both.
White Oak Armament has both.
Warr Dogz has both.
The Mega Arms (JSE Surplus) has both.
stick a bullet in the handle hole and use it to cock the gun....
Or buy a dual charger like @js8588 mentions.
I actually have a very specific set of requirements for an ar upper. Right side, reciprocating and clean rear, tho i think i could be ok with cutting the tabs off a charging handle.....i dunno really dont like the way they look, specially on a side charger.
Now if I could also get an ultralight slick side........Actually i may use a joebobs spartan slick side and try make one.

A few minutes with a mill you could make any upper side charge.
few mins with a mill and id probably loose some fingers lol.
Theres a shop here in town manned buy guys that find weird ideas interesting so might hit them up.
This would be going on a fightlight lower so id need someone to poke a hole in the bc anyway.

I've looked into doing it, it's pretty straightforward. I would like to get a fightlight, but there really killing themselves priced so high.
