Literally.........Up to now my BK11 has been my EDC and hasn't seen any real rough use. When the weather warms up it will also be my main woods bumming knife backed up by a SAK.

Since today got up to a balmy 22 degrees :)I got hit with spring fever and played outside.

When I camp don't baton instead I bring a camp axe, but today I figured what the heck. Besides I wanted to test my BK11 ;).

I started easy with a dry, warm piece from my basement woodpile..

That done I moved to a cold, wet chunk from my outside woodpile..

Then I moved on to a couple semi green sapling/branches from my brush pile to cross-grain cut. Say to make hiking staffs or shelter poles.

One about 1/2 "dia

Not to bad for a little necker. It will make a fine woods knife.

Been beating mine also, but not outside, I like my comfort. Bring the wood inside to my man cave. Cut a ton of cardboard before it needed a touch up.
Have moved no further than a paper pattern for the wood scales.
Fun little knife that looks back at you and says "thats all you got"

Is that all ya'got? My BK7 ate a Jeep. Its no wonder the BK11 is so skinny. You aren't feeding it enough.:D

Great pics Todd. Glad to see you got out and practiced a little "woodcraft". Supposed to be in the Mid 40°'s here tomorrow. I'm heading to the woods with a couple knives. The BK7 is one of 'em. Love them Beckers.;)

Todd A,

If you don't mind I'll forward those pictures on to Ethan and the guys at Ka-Bar.

Sure hso, go ahead.

Rupestris, a jeep!!!!!! What did you use to baton with????? A sledge hammer?:scrutiny:

I had a hard enough time with the thin sapling remains. They were cut just before winter, still moist, and its been around 10 degrees all week. Kinda still frozen a bit in the center.:)

bikerdoc, glad you still like yours.I am liking mine more and more everyday.

:D No. Didn't do any battoning. I was being facetious. We had a shell of a Jeep Grand Cherokee at work for paint testing. Before it went off to the scrap yard, a co-worker and I tested the tips of my BK7 and his Ranger RD9. Punched a couple holes in the hood and roof and hogged 'em out a bit but didn't disassemble it. Just left a few ventilation holes in it.:p

I was a bit worried at first but went at it with reckless abandon anyway.

Since proving that its worth its salt its been living the good life of splitting wood and providing entertinment for the neighborhood boys when we have a camp fire in the yard.

I've switched to hatchets for splitting lately. I still love my Becker and would have a hard time parting with it.

I have a 5" Campanion on the way for testing/review as part of a pass-around. I'll be sure to post pics here.

Chris
