I too am considering various "night stand" options. Right now I'm leaning toward a GunVault or similar product bolted to our bedframe (antique oak and iron, VERY heavy). My criteria are that the pistol has to be enclosed and it should be fairly quick to access. For me this rules out anything in one of the drawers due to the noise and the angle of access while lying in bed. Leaving a pistol out is not an option due to my daughter and the presence of other children and adults in the house when I am not here.

Any and all suggestions on storage options and strategies welcome.

ps- Yes, I've read through Boats' thread and thought I would see if there are any other suggestions specific to the pistol safe type of devices.

Thank you.

Gun Vault locks can be defeated with a Bic pen.
I have heard this claim several times before. Can someone please post a link to an official account of this happening?

The Simplex lockbox posted isn't much more secure either - they only have about 1000 combinations available.

DMF posted this back in September.

Well a guy over on sigforum tried it with his Gunvault and posted video. It took him all of 2 seconds to open it with the pen.

Here is a link to the thread: http://sigforum.com/eve/ubb.x?a=tpc...1935&m=21310197

Go to the first thread by GlockGunslinger. The underlined here in the post is a link to the video he made.

I saw the vids- it was definitely a gunvault, he opened it instantly with a bic pen, and he was not a happy man.

I went ahead and ditched my vault for the Handgun Box that Sir Aardvark linked to above as well.

I think it works well.
