SIG 226 SIGlites+CT grips and soon to have a Streamlight TL-1. I have it wedged in between the bed frame and the mattress in a Bianchi (ranger?) Soft case with it unzipped enough to reach my hand in the top and draw it, but it stays in place all night.

I experimented (By that I mean loaded only with snap caps) with under pillow, but woke up one morning with my SIG wrapped up in my blankets by my ankles, that idea was scrapped quickly for the above way.

My $0.02
RFB

100+ lb chocolate lab outside, very skittish to noises/people/squirrels/cats
50 lb lab pup also, sometimes inside, sometimes outside.

M&P9 by the bed, loaded w/ 17 rounds of 147gr JHP (some gold dots, some WWB). one in the chamber. thinking of just keeping mag loaded, no round in chamber. I haven't really made up my mind. not to threadjack, but any thoughts?

Siaga in the next room, boxed, but w/ magazine locked up. all i have in 7.62x39 is FMJ anyhow. :scrutiny:

My .40 Pro Millenium right next to me. Then just in case zombies are coming towards my house my AK under my bed with 7 loaded HP mags;)

I have a Smith & Wesson SW99 in .40 S&W on my nightstand and a Rem 870 under the bed.

My wife has a Walther P99 in 9mm on her nightstand and a Rem 870under her side of the bed.

My Wifes Turus 40 S&w Is Under My Pillow All Of The Time I Am Sleeping. To Avoid Mishaps, Hmmm, Well, I Guess I Would Have To Raise My Head Off From The Pillows To Get To The Gun. The Reason It Is Her Gun Instead Of My Own, Is Hers Has A Laser Sight On It. At Least I Can See Where I Will Be Shooting Vs Plain Black Sight In The Semi-dark. OH YES, I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT THE PIT BULL DOWNSTAIRS.

I have a pretty strong feeling about this after a teenage friend of my son crawled into our house through a window one night at 0200 hrs. after a night of teenage revelry. I heard him on the roof before he opened the window.Yeah he was a dumbass.
He did not get quite the warm welcome he was used to at our home.
I keep my bedside gun on the shelf in a strongbox in the bedroom closet.
It does require me to get up and unlock the box which allows a few seconds to be fully awake before handling a loaded gun.
I'll trade a few seconds for full awareness of my environment.

My bedside gun is a Wilson 1911 with surefire railight

Right now, I have a G32 in a Blackhawk Serpa. No kids in the house, so it stays on the night stand when I'm home. The Serpa retention system requires that you pay attention to remove the gun. I doubt I could do it half asleep.

HK USP .40 decocked, safety on in the beside table.

TLR-2 on the rails for light and laser capabilities.

I have a Ruger Sp101 with 5 Federal 38+P 125gr Hydrashok HP's. That or a Springfield XD with 16 rounds of 115gr HP's (WWB) in it with an empty chamber. Both sit on the floor & are very hard to see without lights on, and I also have a Nitrolon G2 on my nightstand with a speedloader for the SP101.

Oh yeah, I also have an American Tomahawk Company "Rifleman's Hawk" leaned against the non-visible side of my dresser. If I can't reach the ground (gun), if the perp is on me or my gf, I should be able to grab the tomahawk. Then things get real messy:(

My gun cabinet is right beside the bed, so I've got the right tool for any job right there.

If you're asking about a nightstand gun, it was a Ruger P95, very recently updated to a Taurus 1911.

This is what I have next to my bed, loaded with 5 rounds of 00buck.

And this is what I use to back up the 870

S&W mdl 64-3 38spl loaded with 6 rounds of 125gr JHP's +p 's. I could use the 686 or 1911, but feel the 38spl would be best inside the house.;)

S&W 642 with CT grips loaded with Speer Gold Dot JHPs. nearby is the Mossberg 500SP with 00 buck. and two Jack Russell Terriers who wake up and bark at pretty much any non-standard noise. i used to have the XD45C next to the bed.
