Two weeks ago I bought a used super blackhawk .44mag.
Made in 1981, it has an amazing polished blue finish, it was in the case at my favorite gunshop, when I bought my new redhawk. It called to me ever since.
IT appears to have had some workdone to it. The topstrap is drilled and tapped for a weaver mount, the hammer is jeweled on both sides, cylinder bores appear to be polished, and a trigger job maybe. the other thing the owner did was put a big scratch on the aluminum ejector housing, where it looks like he took a screwdriver to it to pry it off and slipped (maybe he forgot to take out the screw first???) Someone had blackened the scratch with a marker, but I spotted it, resulting in a lower price.
I paid $275 out the door with all fees.
The rest of the gun was in brand new condition, maybe only 1 box of ammo or even none!!!
I took it to the range a couple of times now and I'm shooting 240 LSWC over 7.0 grains of Unique (1000 fps) which is quite manageable recoil wise. Its very very accurate at 25 yards.
I was hoping for some advice on grip technique, do you let it roll, or hold it firm, Use one hand or two and where do you put your other hand if you use two????
Has anyone mounted a scope, on one for hunting, and what scope did you choose? (sacriledge? I may not)
Thanks
