The sad thing is that the Tom Lowe Olympic Shooting Complex in Atlanta Georgia built for the 1996 games was shut down after the olympics never to reopen. It was just as impressive as the China site.

No one locally had the interest or more importantly the money to keep it going. What a waste. There are only two venues in the USA to hold international events in. Benning and Colorado Springs. Colorado is really too small.

The entire shooting venue for the London 2012 games will be demolished once the games are over, at a cost of several millions on top of the tens of millions it will take to build it. This isn't a matter of money though; it's a matter of deliberate, unmitigated government policy.

I'm pretty sure that they still offer trap and skeet shooting at Tom Lowe:

You are right about the rifle range though, it's a damn shame. I have have to drive 80 miles just to find a decent 100yd range.

The shotgun fields that are open are accross the street, the old Wolf Creek Club. The international trap and skeet fields were behind the complex and were taken out.
