I locally bought an old revolver. It appears to be a pinfire black powder revolver. It is single action only and appears to be ~45 caliber. The only markings are on the right side in front of the cylinder. They read this:
BREVETE
SGDG

It appears very similar to some Belgian french (Lefaucheux) pin-fires i see online. If anyone could provide help with Maker, value, age or rarity it would be helpful.

Stonewall Jackson had one very similar, it's on page 298 of Confederate Longarms and Pistols by Hill and Anthony, and it's called a Lefaucheux Brevette.

What is the marking on the cylinder? It looks like a Liege oval, but the pics are too blurry to tell. "Brevete" just means "patented"; SGDG means "Sans Garantie du Gouvernment" a marking required on French guns but also seen on Belgian guns made to be sold in France.

That gun looks like a breaktop. I don't recall seeing a pinfire breaktop and wonder, if it is, whether you could show us how it opens.

The marking is a crown with two small wings/spear/? underneath it. I tried to get a good pic of it but i cant with my cell phone. Just looked at the gun and opened it. The protrusion under the barrel screws off and the gun opens. I have the cylinder off. Inside the gun is a 5 point star and the number 4.
