Benchrest help

I am testing my 9mm pistol reloads and I cannot get any accuracy from using an mtm benchrest and have resorted to shooting offhand. Any tip on benchresting a pistol?

If the Rest is being used properly, it MIGHT be the reloads...

position the bag far enough forward and to the side so that you have to lean heavily on the bench - this will steady your body.

rest your gun on the bag. if the barrel and slide are long enough to put it on the bag, do that (you'll probably scorch your bag a little). if not, firmly position the bottom of the grip on your bag, and make sure you have as much of your arms on the bench as possible.

when benching a pistol it takes a little more concentration to get everything set up, but you can do it w/ some effort.

i run power pistol and 115 xtp's thru my beretta 92...

I bought a cheapy Caldwell rest for rifle that breaks in half for pistol.
It works pretty good.

HAMMR or Ransom Rest are pretty expensive. The magazines use them for their testing.

If nothing else, use some sandbags. My rangemaster said it was okay to use theirs as long as I kept a towel over it to keep from messing them up with powder burns.

I'm more accurate with my 5in 1911 and Novak sights than I am with my Ruger 41 Blackhawk with 4x Burris scope. Doh!

If it's bouncing on something hard, it's gonna suck.
