Are there any major differences between the Benelli M1 and SBE except that the SBE can handle 3.5 inch shells?

I own an SBE but I'm thinking about switching to an M1 since I can't remember the last time I bought (or even saw) a 3.5 inch shell.

I one both, and unless you're going to be doing a boat load of goose hunting with 3.5" steel, get the M1.

For about 99.5% of my hunting a 3" gun will do the trick. The one cool feature about the SBE is the split upper and lower. I used to think it was half assed because it's more expensive to buy a barrel, but after my SBE has gone for a couple swims and been stomped in the mud it's a neat feature.

Break the gun in half and you can flush out both halves easily. The split receiver is also slightly easier to clean, but all Benelli autos are a breeze really.
