Still in the market for a new shotgun and was wondering what you all though about the Benelli M2 field. I would get the synthetic model and just wanted to know if anyone has had trouble with it or what there thoughts were. I held the gun and it sure pulled up nice and felt like it wouldnt be a pain to lug around. other guns that I like were the Browning maxus which also pulled up very nice. I was considering a winchester SX3 also but did not feel right when i held it. Thoughts and opinions would be great thanks.

What would you be using it for?

If it fits you, it is a fantastic field gun. They are light, and you can carry them all day without fatigue. Because of the light weight and the recoil system, they kick harder than some other guns, so for extended clay sessions or lots of full load waterfowl hunting there may be better options if you are recoil sensitive.

I sold my M2 because I shot it the same as my M1 but it was worth more, still have the M1. I really like it, but prefer the Beretta gas guns for heavy shooting.

well im anything but recoil sensative, I actually kind of enjoy nowing im shooting something when i pull the trigger. I would be using it for basically everything from waterfowl, pheasants, doves, and maybe the occasional clay session. Thanks for your reply already!

I bought a used M-1 cheap right after the M-2's came out. Found a fellow who just had to have the newer gun so I bought his lightly used M-1 and it has become my favorite shotgun. Changes to the M-2 are mostly cosmetic.

I'd strongly recommend them unless you are recoil sensitive or plan on shooting tens of thousands of rounds at clay targets each year. The gas guns do recoil a little less. But for a gun primarily used for hunting I'll gladly take the much lighter, simpler Benelli.

The M2 is a good all around shotgun, Very reliable. What has kept me from having one is the lack of ability to handle 3 1/2 in shells and the heavy recoil. There are other options but they may not fit as nice for YOU. If it fits well and you don't care about the felt recoil and don't see a need for 3 1/2 then it would make a wonderful shotgun.
