benelli nova with a bulged barrel?

it has a bulge about 10 inches from the muzzle... and is only a year or so old.. what could have casued it?

Sounds like there was some sort of obstruction in the barrel.

Nova's are not known to have spontaneous barrel bulging while sitting in the gun safe.

Perhaps a few more details would be helpful.

Impossible!

Benellis are like HKs. They are infallible in every possible way and as a result it must be some defect in your character causing the bulge in the barrel.

the nova is not an indestructable gun! haha ive had problems with it like slam fires, not ejecting the shell and your average miss fires when there are geese 5 feet away..
ive taken care of this gun like my baby and i just decided to clean it after using the gun last fall for shooting clays, looked in the barrel and there was a ring the outside was bulged but not much.. benelli is allowing me to send it in to get looked at and hopefully replaced.

Sounds like a base wad came loose from one shell and lodged in the barrel. The next shot caused the ring.

It sounds like a dud of a gun. I have never had slam fires with any modern pump-action or semi-automatic shotguns, and FTE's are almost unheard of with pump-guns unless you are short-stroking it.
