If you hope to have a competitive Open gun, I seriously doubt the Beretta will do the trick. It's hard enough making the 92 into a serious Production pistol, which requires removable sights (most 92's have fixed sights) and the skill of a small handful of pistolsmiths. The horrendous first tigger pull weight can be overcome with a really good trigger job but I think your problem will be finding parts that Open guns use that can also fit on the Beretta. I'm sure it can be done, but I don't think you're going to find it easy to find a pistolsmith that has experience adapting a Beretta to take comps, a Dot sight, extended mag capacity, and all the other stuff that changes a 1911 into a true Open gun. Then there is the problem of making Major. This will be very difficult if not impossible in a Beretta 9mm. Of course, if you just want to use it on steel and not an IPSC match, that may not be a problem. Anyway, I would not try to make a Beretta into an Open gun unless I was the pistolsmith and was looking for a unique and difficult challange.
