Any owners out there with an opinion? What about accessories like magazine extensions, side saddles, etc.

Is this worth investing in given that I already have a tactically set up Remington 1100? Why?

Thanks for any taking time to share the knowledge.

I’ve got to shoot them. They are very, very nice. I’ve had 1100/1187 defense style shotguns. The 1301 definitely has the advantage of being lighter and has some cooler options for accessories. Also cycles faster. If money weren’t an issue and I was using a shotgun for serious use I’d just pony up the cash for a Langdon Tactical 1301.

Having said all that, I never felt under gunned with an 1100/1187.

I just bought one, picking it up this week. I already own an 870-based AOW, which is a lousy HD firearm since you can't brace it against your shoulder, sight down the barrel easily, etc.
Shooting it at the range a lot though has shown me that short stroking is a thing. I can only imagine with the adrenaline boost in a life or death situation, that short stroking could become a hindrance
to staying alive. I was hot on the Mossberg 930 SPX for a while, seems like a great HD shotgun. But based upon the range testing, YT videos and threads I've read from owners, would I
stake my life on the reliability of that action? Not me, I see too many FTF and FTEs from 930 SPX users and it seems a bit pickier about the ammo that it likes.
And in these days of very limited availability of the exact ammo you want, I felt compelled so look for a more reliable 12ga semi auto that can digest whatever ammo I can get a hold of reliably.

The Benelli M4 is obviously a top notch semi-auto tactical shotgun but it's expensive ($2k and you'd possibly sink another $500 to $800 on outfitting it the way you want it), it's relatively heavy
too. The Beretta 1301 Tactical was the obvious place to go. I have not shot it yet and I like to shoot guns before I buy one, when possible but I didn't know anyone who owns one and my
local ranges don't have them in their rental stock.

I took the plunge, my local dealer had a Gen 2 in FDE on the wall. I have bought several of the Aridus Industries accessories, the Magpul SGA Mossberg stock, and I was lucky enough to score an Aridus RMR Rob Haught CROM yesterday
so I ordered a Holosun HE407K-GR X2 Green Dot Reflex Sight to put onto the Aridus CROM to co-witness with the irons. I also bought the NordicComp Magazine extension to give the 1301 Tactical 7 + 1 magazine capacity.
It remains to be seen until I shoot a few hundred rounds through it if I like it as much as I hope I will, but I am optimistic that it will be a good choice for an HD shotgun.

I'm an NRA Shotgun instructor so I don't anticipate recoil will be an issue for me and supposedly the 1301 T is fairly soft shooting with most loads other then 3" Magnums, which I wouldn't use for HD
as I don't think my physical layout and distances would benefit from heavy loads. The 1301 Tactical, at least on paper and handling it at my local shop, seems to check all of my boxes for what I was
looking for in an HD shotgun. Of course, lots of people are happy using a pump gun for HD. The reality is if you train a lot, you can make almost any shotgun work as a decent HD firearm but I
wanted to buy once, cry once so I bought the shotgun I really wanted rather than trying others that were pump or lower cost semi autos. I love semi autos, I've used them for clays, but I always had
concerns about feeding reliability. It remains to be seen if the Beretta Blink system will meet my expectations.

I'll report back here once I get it all accessorized and to the range. My firearms goal for 2022 is to take at least one multi-day tactical shotgun course so once I have it all up and running, I'll begin looking for
the best tactical shotgun course for my needs and budget.

I have had one for a while and it continues to impress. Mine has all of the Aridus goodness installed and that makes it an even better shotgun. I did change the Haught mod rear sight for a full ghost ring. I just could not make the Haught mod work. I guess too much time on regular GR sights. I am sure I could have worked on it with practice, but going back and forth from GR on other guns to the Haught mod on the 1301 did not work for me.

I really like the Magpul stock, but it is a pretty smooth shooting gun as it comes from the factory. A while ago I was shooting with a couple of buddies that have full Agency pimped Benelli's and we all kind of agreed that the Beretta shot better overall.

I have about 750-1000 rounds of mostly target loads with about 150 rounds of buckshot and no hiccups. There are good to go with me.

@Lon_E noted, pistol-forum.com has a cult-like following for the 1301 Tactical among some serious and talented shooters. It has earned quite a reputation over there.

Which Benelli shotguns? M2s or M4s? I'm really interested to know how they compared. The Benelli M4 has been on my list for years and years, but I have not been able to bring myself to purchase one. After seeing the 7+1 1301 Tactical, though, I kind of wonder.

You might check out a YouTube video from TFB (the firearm blog). I'm not sure if it mentions the 1301 in the title but the guy runs one and talks about it alot in the vid and has alot of very positive feedback on it. It made me kind of think about a 1301 for a while and I kind of wanted one but I'm trying not to buy things I don't need and while it would be a fantastic defensive shotgun, my 870 is up to that job in spades.

I wish I had a "need" for it, but my defensive gun situation has long since been covered so I'd be kidding myself if I thought I was being practical..... I hope you enjoy your 1301, I'd like to shoot one some day.

The 12 gauge shotgun, so loaded with shot of an adequate size, is a potent stopper.

The Beretta examples are fine guns.

I've owned and been issued 1100 and 1187P's since 1993...loved them.

I kept reading the hype on the 1301T for quite awhile but resisted, thinking "How much better could it be than my 1187?". I finally broke down and bought one last month.

It was definitely worth it and I'm a full-fledged convert...sold my Remington to a friend.

Sorry just catching back up to this thread. They have M4's. Agency makes excellent guns but the Beretta was smoother. Either one will serve you well. I would try to handle them both to see which one fits/feels the best.

I sold my Benelli Nova pump and bought the gen2 1301 tactical and the 24" 1301 competition. Both have seen over 2000 rounds with no stoppages that weren't ammo related.

It's easy to disassemble and clean, light weight, glock reliable, and patterns well with the factory IC choke. The Comp swings very nicely to track arial targets and goes nice and tight with an extra full choke. Even hot turkey loads are manageable, and my 8 year old can shoot the light stuff. They've both been wonderful weapons without doubt.

The caviat is cost.

Definitely cost. This is my first Beretta firearm but I don't regret spending a bit more than a Mossberg or Remington to get it.
It feels as if it is a very well built. solid shotgun and it's been dead reliable so far even with low brass birdshot. That, in itself
is an achievement with a semi-auto.

Don’t know what semi’s you have experience with but I’ve got nine or ten semi’s that are dead reliable with low brass birdshot: SX3’s, Maxus, Affinity, SA-08 and L4S. In addition high brass doesn’t cycle better than low if shot size and powder charge are the same. But since high brass loads tend to be loaded hotter the yes they will cycle better but its an apples to oranges comparison.

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it friend, I've seen issues with recoil operated semis handling lighter loads, particularly once you get below 1 ounce of shot. Not the 1301 though, no issues there.

Gas operated semis are so nice!

The M4 might be the best combat shotgun ever devised... although an argument could be made for the M3 convertible perhaps.

The extra pound and change of weight vs the 1301 helps lessen felt recoil from full power loads for sure.

However, if I'm carrying the weapon around for any length of time, I'd rather the 1301 with a prism optic. That's a pretty lightweight combination for a semi auto 12 gauge.

Sure, I get it. When I say low brass birdshot, generally those mean low velocity target loads.

Mine cycle 1oz loads but none of them are 3.5” shotguns. My Affinity has the occasional hiccup with 1oz loads though.
