Beretta 391 Urika or Remington 1100 (20ga.)?

ANY 20ga autoloader is pretty weak in the recoil dept. With MOST loads.
I'd rather have a Beretta 303 in 12ga than ANYTHING else.
The 28ga Remington 1100 Sporting is a shear delight, and like everyone says- Better get in line early to get a Beretta Auto 28ga; it'll be a LONG line.
Don't listen :banghead: to these guys about NOT getting another shotgun, use any excuse you need to acquire more toys.
I'd stick to a 12ga for what you tasked it for.

i have not owned both, because i have not found a beretta semi worth buying as long as remingtonexists.
You get what you pay for. There is a less than $200 difference between the MSRP of the Remington 1100 Sporting and the Beretta 391 Urika Sporting. $1057 versus $1250.

For this you get a shim system that adjusts fit, two recoil pads to change lengths and five chokes instead of four. You have more barrel length, rib configuration and stock options. In addition you get a gun that works with shells from light 7/8 ounce 2-3/4" shells all the way through to 3" magnums. It's a more versatile gun. Excellent for clays and works for ducks and geese.

I generally find that once my 1100 and its predecessaor 11-87SC (same as an 1100) got to the 500 round mark reliablity dropped off. My 391 has run up to 3 thousand rounds without cleaning provided it was kept lubricated with BreakFree.

The biggest issue with the 391 is that it is more complex to take down. That and $200 is a price worth paying for a superior shotgun.

Actually, my experience with the guns I shoot (mostly a 6 1/4 pound Franchi AL48 in 20) and the loads I shoot is that 12 and 20 are roughly comparable because the 20s weigh less. However, for that reason, I prefer them for field carry. If I were shooting skeet, I'd care less about weight, I think.

The 391 points REEEEALLY well - for me.

ANY 20ga autoloader is pretty weak in the recoil dept. With MOST loads.

I shoot doves in Argentina and Mexico where we do a case or two a day.

1100's jammed on each shoot and required cleaning twice a day to keep going.

390 and 391's did the entire week's hunt without cleaning.

THIS IS EXTREME SHOOTING.

Usually and 1100 or 1187 will do just fine.

Their weak point is the rubber gas sealing ring on the mag tube. Get a good supply of these since they seem to fail when you are in the middle of NO WHERE.

OR, run down to WAL-MART and get the Beretta for $525.00.

I have had both and shot them a lot. Nothing wrong with the 100, but the 391 is a better gun for feel, function, and looks.
