YEP...I took a chance on the "red-headed stepchild" of the Beretta family...

I have eyeballing these at the local Gander Mountain over the last 2 years; they came and went in droves and dried up...and now they're back!

This latest batch are 9mm for $349.99 and come with 2 hicap (12 rounds) mags; one mag has the hinged pinky extension baseplate and the other has the flat baseplate;

I am seeking feedback from owners of this series of gun and needing info/sources for accessories...

1) where can I get another hinged pinky extension baseplate?

2) where can I get the adapter that fits on the series 92 mags to make them usable in the 9000s guns?

I'd be interested in hearing also. I came soooooo close to getting one at the gunshow today. I might go back tomorrow to see if it's still there.

I like mine much more than I possibly should considering how poorly some people view them. It's accurate, reliable, well made and affordable, not to mention that it just looks so daggum cook.I very infrequently carry mine but when I do choose to go OWB in a Bianchi belt slide intended for a P226 due to the width. Some people have an issue with the controls but I carry it decocked with the safety off and don't have a problem-while it could be carried cocked and locked,I doubt that was the intent of the design. The slide is a little difficult to grip and mine wouldn't feed WWB for the first 500 rounds-speaking of which,I haven't had it out in over a year,I really should take it to the range tomorrow:eek: It feeds just fine from my stack of 92 mags, factory Beretta and Malaysian surplus equally well.

9000s

I have one. Been carrying as much as possible for over 2 years.

Mine is a 9mm Type F (SA/DA). Type D is DAO.

Works well, given the amount of times I have be able to go to the range. Qualified for my Armed Security (Class G) License here in Florida with it.

The ploymer frame is good, and the only rust problem I have here in Florida is with carrying the spare mag. No rust problem with the weapon itself.

If it fits your hand, go for it. The only nagging problems it has is that:

  1. The magazine release can not be reversed.
  2. The lever to disassemble is an art to learn to work with, but once you do, assembly/disassembly is easy.
  3. Safety/decocker is a little stiff at first.
Would get a second one if I could.

update & range report

update: bought one

range report: reliabilty, not accuracy

100 rounds of American Eagle 124 gr 9mm...shot great
20 rounds Federal Hydrashok 147gr 9mm...shot great
50 rounds Winchester WWB 147 gr jhp 9mm...shot great

the Winchester WWB 147 jhp is my chosen defense load due to performance reports at Glocktalk and the price is good

Thanks for the feedback and links...I also posted the question over at the Beretta Forum and this gun has a small niche and the chosen owners seem to like it alot

A friend of mine bought one without talking to me first, being enamored of its space-age looks. He didn't realize that a compact pistol is different than a full-size.

Upon shooting about 500 rounds through it, between the two of us, he had me sell it for him at a gun show. Neither of us liked the trigger, it's not at all the same trigger as a 92. (That's what they SHOULD have done, miniaturized the 92 trigger.) The SA was ok, I didn't like the DA at all. It didn't have any reliability issues to speak of. Both of us got pinch marks on our right hands from slapping the mags in. And yes, the only accessories we could fond for it were at the Beretta USA site.

We decided A: that neither of us really care for compact pistols in the first place, and B: if we ever did get a small one again, we would go with a sub-compact Glock. For those who DO actually like compact pistols, it's probably fine.
