I have a Beretta 92 F Compact I'm trying to dig up some info on. I traded a West German Police P-38 with a DOB of 1962 I had $160.00 bucks invested in. It's my first Beretta and find reference to a "92SB Compact (1981 – 1991), shortened barrel and slide (13-round magazine capacity). It was replaced by the "92 Compact L".." but not just a 92 F Compact. Serial is C 523XXX and it has a chrome bore. I've been a Colt 1911 and Colt/S&W wheel gun fan and this is just the 2nd 9mm I've owned other than the P-38. I like the feel and balance much better than the P-38 and plan on making it a keeper. Can anyone recommend higher capacity 20 or 25 rnd. magazines with good reliability? My favorite carry for my Combat Commander is a Miami Special horizontal shoulder rig and am leaning towards going that route with the Beretta along with a Milt Sparks IWB and would like to here whatever recommendations current other Beretta CCW owners might have.

I have only ever seen one compact 92 before that was a friend of mine's in the Army that he inherited from his late father. It was a sweet shooter and so comfortable in the hand. Ive been looking for one ever since. I would keep it as I hear they are kinda rare. Such a cool pistol.

I really dont have any info for you but wanted to show my jealousy. :)

Mike, the gun is totally worthless and unsafe, i think you should ship it to me at the soonest possible date. :D
Seriously, you have a good gun there. I have seen two of them but couldnt buy either at the time. I have a 92-FS that i have had for 12 years and NOT ONE JAM OR MALFUNCTION OF ANY KIND. Now that is pretty good considering i have shot every kind of ammo i could get my hands on. Now on the other hand i have owned the model 9000 which was a real piece of trash and got rid of it a long time ago. Even a Beretta official pretty much called it a piece of junk, lol.
I dont know why people are so down on Beretta, i own one and i own a Glock and if i had to get rid of one, it wouldnt be the Beretta.
Anyway, you got a keeper there, good luck with it.
Try the Beretta forum, they got guys there that could tell you about its history i assume.

Mike, I carried that exact Beretta on duty from 1988 to 1996. Working a street crime unit I carried it in the "Miami" rig it is very comfortable while sitting in a vehicle. As well as accessible. Other side I carried the standard two mags and cuffs. Of course you have to wear a jacket or some knucklehead will call you Don Johnson. I have never used any other mags but the stock. I will tell you that the 92C never malfunctioned and was accurate. I loved that gun and when we switched to Glock in the 90's I was not happy. Love the Glock now, but the old girl still sits in the safe.
