I hear great things about the Beretta 92. I'm thinking of adding one to the collection. Is there any advantage or disadvantage of the ones made in Italy?
How about the 92FS vs. The 92 M-9 ?
I also found a used one in single stack (8 rnd.) a 92 SB that has a thing grip, but it might be hard to find magazines for that gun.

Opinions?

My American 92 frame has a better finish than my Italian 92. But otherwise they apprear comparable.

A nice thing I noticed lately - Beretta seems to be doing a fantastic job with their single action triggers. I handled 3 very good ones lately in the gun shop.

Something to look for: Be sure to check how the barrel rides in the hole in the front end of the slide. If the barrel doesn't ride centered on the bottom of the hole I would pass on it and get a different one. (Although that goes for any handgun model)

I bought one that was sold a "law enforcement package". Came in a cardboard box with an extra mag or two, and was a little cheaper than a "non-LE" gun. It was the only Beretta I have seen that had quality problems. The barrel rode against the side of the hole in the slide and the trigger had creep in it. Worked fine but it appeared to me they might have been selling the culls (seconds) as law enforcement packages at a lower price. I traded it off for a regular 92 which has been flawless.
