Beretta is talking about leaving Maryland if gun control passes.

Glock is in the Atlanta GA area. I don't know if that is all of Glock USA's operations however. It is often hard to find where a companies factories are located. I feel sure GA would welcome Beretta.

It is happening again.... the North and the South....

It's certainly nice to see big gun companies sticking up for gun owner's rights, unlike 1994.
Though it was before my time, I've heard enough about S&W and Bill Ruger to be very wary of them (big gun companies with .gov contracts) when it comes to RTKBA.

Obviously Maryland legislators haven't taken the hint, or possibly they don't care.

Of course they don't care!

After all, we're talking about a place where legal ideology is a tool cynically wielded by the powerful to ensure submission by the powerless.

Move their factory out of Maryland depending on the passage of oppresive gun laws? Sounds funny seeing that Italy (and most of the EU for that matter) isn't exactly the most gun friendly of places. Just doesn't sound right.

As I write this the page and poll are still up. Use the links in either post #1 or #8. The poll is on the left-hand side of the page, about 3/4 down from the top. At present we are winning and I hope we can keep it this way.
just voted; 91% no, 9% yes…

That's true re: European firearms markets, but this isn't Europe. Civ sales in the US are much higher volume than Europe and, by that variable, a much higher component of their domestic sales. Civ sales are also higher margin than govt. contracts. The risk is more significant here if you alienate a market/economy that is driven by consumers.

Thank you. I should explain that "NO" means "not in favor of new gun control legislation," and this poll is more important then some because the Washington Post is well read in this nation's capital. If the numbers don't turn around some Legislators and Administration officials (not to mention the White House Team) might be in for a shock. Anything that makes them uneasy is a plus for us.

Yes and no: Left wing legislators are opposed to gun rights for residents on general principal. But they don't like to see jobs and tax money moving away, nor do the want examples of this to effect the thinking of others in unrelated bussiness that might start having thoughts of doing the same for different reasons.

Maryland's Governor has expressed the opinion that they can pass restrictive legislation that could hurt Beretta, and at the same time keep the company located there. Now we will have to wait and see what happens.

YES!!! That is so awesome I just yelled out loud...woke up the baby...ticked off the wife. No matter, that is good news!!!

I would love to see Beretta move. Legislators need to realize that their actions have real world consequences. It is not just votes. I would suggest any manufacturer that is penalized by legislation move to another state if it is possible.

Ultimately, ideology and power trumps all when it comes to the leftist.

That's the same thing they said about Boeing before they pulled up stakes in Wichita, KS.

And then opened their new facility in Charleston instead of Washington state.

Companies go where the costs are the lowest - that means labor, taxes and materials

Maryland resident checking in. There have been numerous protests here in Annapolis, we are really trying to fight this. They're trying to fragment their gun legislation into multiple new bills. It's ridiculous. I'm tight for money and selling my P95 to get the M&P 9 I have been dying for before anything may happen.

Good. I hope more companies do the same. I am sure there are some gun friendly states that would love to have Beretta and the jobs they offer.

I called Beretta yesterday to encourage. If they are true to their word , my next gun will be a Beretta. I have my eye on a 85FS.

I know it's 3rd hand, but I read on another forum, a guy called into Beretta to express support, and was told Beretta WAS moving... regardless of the outcome of the vote.

It may be a proposed Maryland law that would be be forcing Beretta to move.

see this link: http://bit.ly/Z1EElF

For those that don't know her Emily Miller is a DC reporter that's been getting under the skin of DC government for calling them out on conflicting and contradicting DC gun laws meant to “trip up” gun owners.

Well why not? Les Baer moved across the river to Iowa from Illinois because of THEIR insane gun laws.

So Illinois loses yet ANOTHER business and jobs since all the factories are moving out of there to Mexico because of high taxes and union wages having to be paid to support new Obama voters.

“We think getting assault weapons off the streets and keeping this company can both be accomplished,” said Raquel Guillory, O’Malley’s spokeswoman.
Translation: We still want you to pay us your taxes, but we plan to screw your business has hard as we can.

They should leave regardless of whether Maryland passes more gun control or not, they already have too much. All these companies need to move out from places which clearly don't like them. Come on down to NC;)
