So, I finally got around to figure out how the 2+1 -shot limiter in me Beretta 1201F works. In short, the end plug of magazine tube will have to be removed and there are two shotshell-sized plastic plugs that limit the capacity from 4 to 2 rounds.

It's a real PITA to remove and install. I'd much prefer the Benelli small barrel ring style limiter rod that's inserted by just removing the outer cap, into a hole in the magazine tube. The legal round limitation varies between game species, being 2+1 or 3+1, and I'd hate to have to disassemble half the gun to change the limiter.

Has anyone tried to drill a hole in the plug for the limiter rod? It seems simple enough and I think I could do it in a matter of minutes with a drill press, but if someone has already done a similar mod, I'd like to know if there's something I should consider beforehand.
(Yeah, "learn to shoot!", "no-one needs a fourth round!" etc., but even hypothetically if I do? :) )
