Beretta M92 Issue

I just bought a Beretta M92 .22LR. Nice looking gun, but I have a real issue. Any advice would be appreciated.

Does it fail to extract every time?
Just at a glance, it looks like the extractor can't possibly grab the case rim because it sits below the edge of the machined cut-out.

Looks to me like the mag and chamber aren’t lining up very well. Does it fail to feed from the mag, and does it fail to extract a round in the chamber?

The first round loads fine and extracts fine, but then the second round goes in the chamber, and the third comes after.

Looks like the extractor cut isn't deep enough and the mag is too high. Maybe just an illusion though.

Does it do it all the time? Have you tried another mag? It almost sounds like its a mag issue and its letting more than one round go as it cycles.

I have the same gun and I haven't had any trouble with it. Runs great actually.

I just ran down and set up what you showed, maybe there's something in there that stands out.

Your gun looks like it will work. I agree with the comments that say the OP's gun looks like the extractor cut in the barrel is not deep enough. The extractor won't be able to catch the rim of the round to extract it.

It looks to me that the round in his chamber is a "live round", and not an empty that wasn't extracted. It also looks like the round behind it, drove it into the chamber with some force.

I set that up as if it were a double feed, and just slipped the round into mine and eased the slide down on it, so there was no force involved there. It might well look like his if it had just dropped the slide on it.

The extractor cut on his does look a little off, or maybe the round is, or maybe a bit of both. I just mic'd the cut on mine, from the edge of the barrel to the bottom of the cut, the average measured 0.125. Maybe there is an answer there.

Heres what mine looks like.

If you only have one mag, then Id get another and try that. Might try just loading two rounds in the mag and see what happens.

If you only load one round and the gun functions properly, I would say the extractor was working properly and its pointing to the mag.

When this happens, is the round in the chamber an empty round? Or is it live?

Some of those little Beretta tip-up blowback guns don't "function" with
manual, non-firing cycling.

Being a simple blowback, the extractor doesn't really extracts the fired case - the case is pushing on the breechface (and onto the ejector), thus moving the slide. It is there only as a guide for ejecting the spent case and to aid removing an unfired/misfired round from the chamber.

The extractor still needs to be able to clear the chamber when unloading, etc.

I'm with the extractor groove being too shallow theory.

The extractor groove may or may not be off, but it has nothing to do with the double feed.

He already said it completed a full cycle, load, fire, extract/eject. It appears the (live) second round somehow got in the chamber with the third round driving it home causing the double feed. I'm still thinking what we're looking at is a mag issue. How else do you account for the double feed?

No, I did not fire it yet, I just tried to cycle, as I usually do with a new gun.

If any thing, the round in the magazine is sitting to high. Metal mag lips can be adjusted to keep the round lower in the mag.

Slow process. Tiny adjustment at a time.

Other than loading up a gun, I try to limit hand cycling live ammo in my house. Snap caps are a better option for hand cycling.

That is correct. And also easily adjusted with a small flat file. We still wait for the OP to shoot his pistol though...

9 times out of 10 .22 LR feed issues are magazine related . . . .

Ok, here is update. Everything that been advised did not resolved the issue. I sent gun to Beretta. And that is is what they found.
"Found barrel chamber to be bad. Replaced barrel with shop overage. Test fired 20 rounds Firearm functions with factory parameters."
I test as well. Issue resolved.
