I have wanted a Beretta M9A1 for a long time. Are they worth the extra money over a Beretta 92FS? Do they have metal triggers?

No, none of the Berettas have metal triggers anymore - but you can buy one online if you hunt for one...

It is basically a railed 92FS. The slide is a 92FS slide actually - marked as such and with 3 dot sights. The frame is marked M9A1, though...

It is nice. Honestly, I like the plain Beretta serrations over the checkering of the M9A1 - because the checkering isn't sharp enough. The standard 92FS is my fav - balance wise in a 1 handed grip. My next favorite is the 92A1. I think it balances very, very nice. You also get some of the newer features. The 92A1 is my fav of all the railed models.

However, I will admit that the M9A1 looks the coolest out of any railed model...

I actually have two 92A1s and two M9A1s, though...

very nice! I have the 96 - love it but had to do a trigger job on it. IT was worth it - not one jam in around 1500 rounds. Workhorse.

It really comes down to do you want a rail?

I personally love my Beretta 92fs. Absolutely reliable and super accurate. Either one you get you won't be upset!

Hey, mesinge2 is that Beretta grip too small for you, that you need to put that finger groove "thingy" on? What's your day job, NBA center?;)

I'll probably never own one, but I do like living vicariously through Shipwreck's collection. They are good looking pistols.

Actually that is the reason for the grip sleeve and extended mag. :D

I don't have hands, I have bear paws! Here is my XDm-45 with the largest back-strap installed. Check out the grip:

OK, maybe not NBA center, more like NFL lineman. Those are some big paws, alright.

I think Shipwreck got it exactly right.
I was all hot and bothered for a 92A1 until I actually got my hands on one.
Compared to my M9 the gun just felt cheap, the trigger was mushy and the fit and finish were nothing to jump for joy about.
For the price the seller was asking, it wasn't worth it.

I didn't say that. I LIKE the 92A1 more than the M9A1 - that is what I said. People mix up the model #'s and say 92A1 when they mean M9A1 - all the time. Maybe that is what happened...

Yes - but it has been discontinued for a long time.

I personally never liked the vertec grip. I like the standard grip. I once owned a Vertec around 2003...
