i have a chance to buy a beretta 12 ga. pump and was wondering if any one could help me out with a little background on this gun. i am having a hard time finding out any info. it is an older gun. any info would be helpful

Unless you are a collector who wants interesting specimens, or it's really cheap, you're probably better off getting an American pump shotgun, like the common Remingtons and Mossbergs. They're great guns, they're cheap, and so many have been produced that parts and accessories are everywhere.

But I've never heard of a bad Beretta shottie.

I've seen exactly ONE of these. It was owned/operated by a B-more Police Officer of great street smarts but little rank. I think it was a confiscated weapon that he "Recycled". The barrel was shortened a bit and it had a Raybar sight. The bright plating on the receiver was striking.

IIRC, it worked well and shucked smoothly.

All in all, I'd let this one pass and get a Big Four pump for all around use. If you like curiosa and have some shotguns already, get it.
