Greetings!

I have a Beretta Storm carbine and am trying to decide on optics (no-I don't have my top rail yet). I am thinking of either the EOTECH HoloSight or the C-More. I am leaning toward the C-More IF it sits low enough to use the iron sights through the bottom of the lens. Anyone have any experience with a C-More mounted on a Storm? Any other input?

Thanks!

Saw some pictures with EOTech on it, kind of a little sitting too high (for me). I'll order a Hakko for mine. Heard that the top rail could be metal instead of plastic .... guess we will find out soon.

Can anyone tell me what ballpark price that I'm looking at for these sights?

Best place to buy?

I understand that the rails are here, clearing customs. Should be just a few more weeks....

It looks like the EOTECH and C-More can both be bought for $250-$300. Strangely enough, my wife is pushing for the Holosight/C-More over a traditional (tube) red-dot sight. She wants something that is quick on target and doesn't need a perfect cheek weld. She only anticipates using it in a SHTF emergency if I am not home.

Why not just put an Aimpoint or some other red dot on it?....at the distance you will be shooting you don't need the high priced EO Tech(my son has one on his ar15) or the C-More......the red dots like aimpoint and Tasco work great at short distances...........

Jem375-
I have been looking at that option too. I have found a pretty nice bushnell red dot for just over $100 (Cabelas).

I would love to see the storm as a flat-top with flip up front and rear sights and . . . wait a minute. Am I trying to turn this puppy into an AR-15? That would be ironic. I was originally looking for pistol caliber upppers to go with an AR-Lower (didn't want to convert my bushmaster). When all was said and done, it would have run me 3x the cost of the CX-4.

I nixed the .223 indoors option due to the muzzle flash (post ban gun) and noise issues. You touch off a .223 indoors and you run the risk of hearing damage. I decided against a shotgun because I wanted something both the wife and I can use. Plus, I got it for $495 plus tax.

jem, how much does guy pay for the Aimpoint? Best source?

That's a good point about the Eotech and distances involved. A less expensive, but quality red dot might be a better option.

jame.......it's been awhile since I worked behind the gun counter at Gander Mountain, just guessing.........somewhere around the $50-$75 mark would get you a good one............KLR wrote that at Cabela's, the Bushnell red dot was about a $100....I think the Tasco is a little cheaper, Aimpoint might be about the same as the Bushnell...............

Cabelas has a Bushnell "Trophy Multi-Reticle Red-Dot Scope" for $109. I would post the link but it is three lines long

I started looking at the OKO Sight (someone posted about it a while ago - I ran a search). It has a lot of the advantages of the C-More but is easier to adjust. You can get a metal shield to go over it for protection of the optics. It is $200 at Dillon Precision. I figure another $65 for the shield. Same price range as the C-more when all is said and done, but I have read several horror stories about trying to sight in the C-More.

Cableman:

I was just looking my Storm over a little more closely. It is a sub 300 serial number that I picked up in November (still haven't shot it yet  ). I noticed that near the muzzle end, on the right side of the barrel running to the bottom there are brown flecks that look suspiciously like rust. Haven't quite figured out what to do about it. I am thinking it highly unlikely, but it really looks like rust.

Why not just put an Aimpoint... ...you don't need the high priced EO Tech

I think the Tasco is a little cheaper, Aimpoint might be about the same as the Bushnell...............

Isn't Aimpoint a $350+ optic, while EOTech is under $300? www.swfa.com

I really REALLY like reflex sights compared to tube red dots, ESPECIALLY when you're talking about quick pointing, fast shooting, etc. No doubt that, for me, and many others, they are MUCH faster.

What about a <$200 OKO? Another excellent optic.

KRL - get out the CLP and clean that rust off your new gun!

My storm is #355 so it is a low serial number too.

I broke mine the first day I had it. I took it apart and the PLASTIC guide rod broke so I had to wait for 3 weeks to get another one from Beretta.

Now that it's back together, it's running fine.

I just put 100 rounds through it yesterday and I am amazed at the accuracy of this little rifle. I was hitting pop cans at 50 yards with no problem.

I was throwing pop cans down a icy hillside and nailing them as they were sliding down the hill on the ice. The gun really tracks well and I could hit the cans multiple times while they were sliding to the bottom of the hill.

I can't wait to get the top rail so I can put a red dot on the top.
I have a Bushnell Holosight on my AR, so I am going to try it out on the storm before I buy an Eotech. I also have an old Tasco red dot lying around which I may end up using on the Storm. Or go with a Hakko or Oko type red dot. I just need that darn top rail to get here so I can decide, but either way this gun will be a great little defensive carbine.

Here are the sights for anyone interested

I had a Tasco accudot on my Ruger MK2 handgun before I took it off, and I don't see how you could acquire the target any faster with a reflex sight than a red dot.........you throw it up and shoot when the red dot comes on target, how could it be any slower?????????? total b.s...... if you think you need a $300 EO Tech or C-More, be my guest.............you don't..........

It just occured to me that I have a Leupold 2x handgun scope that was was going to use on my Mauser scout project (....that's languishing in the safe,.....some parts are still in the garage......stock still needs inletting and finished,....ahem....)

Would that ER scope work as well as a red dot? They are made for fast, "two eyes open" target aqusition. Anyone with thoughts on that?

Jame........I have a Leupold 2x handgun scope also that is on my Taurus Raging Bull in 454 Casull.....I don't know if it would work on the Storm because of the eye relief.....depends on how far away you can mount it on the Storm....on my pistol it is arm length.......a Bushnell rifle scope wouldn't be too bad either, reasonable price and would probably work real well on the Storm....
KLR...good choice.......

Just got off the phone with Beretta USA. I ordered set 499 of 500 in the first run of top and saddle rails. The sales associate indicated that they were expecting the rails at the end of February. She also said that they have placed a second order of rails from Beretta Italy.

If you're looking for a red-dot , be it reflex, or tube, for TSHTF, I'd consider something that uses a fiber optic "light pipe", with tritum backup for night time.

Turning on the electic sights could be difficult under stress IMO. Also, some models do not have the automatic cut-off, and will stay merrily lit in the gunsafe for several days before the batteries go dead. If you do go with battery, get something that you can see the irons through.

My C-More is excellent, but fidlling with the little knob is not somthing I think I'd want to try in a life of death situation. But mine is "scout mounted" on my AR, and you can see the irons through it just fine. If anything it aids in aquiring the irons as it sort of acts like a huge "ghost ring sight to find the sights" with.

Don't you think you should actually use one first before you start getting rude and calling BS on somebody?

No tube = red-dot visible from a wider angle than a tube. Therefore you see the dot sooner as you raise the rifle, so you start correcting for aim sooner, which gets you on target sooner.

Not everyone sees the same results, but most do. I actually HAVE both, so my opinion comes from my experience, not just what I think it should be. With a reflex sight, you also get much less field of view obstruction than a tube. If you don't believe THAT either, then I really suggest you look through one for yourself.

If you actually READ my whole post, you'd see I said nothing about needing to spend $300... Most reflex sights are under $200.

onslaught.....and I repeat, I have shot them all.......my son has an EO Tech on his ar15......a friend of mine has a C-More on his ar15........my son and I also had the Tasco accudot on our Ruger Mk2's , so I have shot them all and I say that the so-called faster target acquisition is so small if any that it doesn't matter that much....repeat again, use what you want to, everyone else will do the same..........

Okey dokey then. Let's see: Oko 4 MOA sight? Check! Oko Steel protective shroud? Check! Bushmaster rail sling mount? Check! M-3 Illuminator? Check! Fobus forward pistol grip? Check! Top and saddle rails for CX-4? NOPE!

Dang it! I knew this would work out this way. I described the rail situation to my wife as having a car, new tires, but no rims to put them on. Although, technically I am also awaiting my Giles sling from Arizona Gun Runners.

Brownells and Arizona Expert Arms had my merchandise to me two days after ordering it - via U. S. Mail. Very impressed with both companies. No criticism of Arizona Gun Runners - they have always been superb to me!

The Cmore is not bad as a handgun sight on a race gun. If it breaks you don't die. Its fairly fragile and it has course adjustment threads. Its a pain to sight one in on a ar15 at 100 yards because of the slop in the threads. The Eotech is my pick. Very fast and durable. The Aimpoint is not bad but I don't like tubes they are slower. The Trijicon reflex sight uses a smoked lens that I have difficulty seeing through in low light conditions.
