I'm sitting here looking at my RRA .22 LR magazine and notice that the feed lips are plastic. I was thinking of buying a couple more as I'll soon be retired and have more time to shoot.

Does someone make a better one before I spend my money?

Thanks,

EDIT
Left out the word "Magazine" in thread title.

I haven't had any issues with all of the Blackdog magazines I have. I have several 10, 15, and 25 round mags. Blackdog mags are pretty much the standard for AR22 mags.

A lot of people like using the S&W M&P 15-22 magazines since you can have a fully functioning bolt hold open with them. But you either have to install a shim onto you lower or a shim onto each magazine in order for these to work in a standard AR lower.

Blackdog mags work well with the el cheapo Chiappa upper as well. Though the only thing I am using from the Chiappa upper I bought years ago is the bolt and barrel. I replaced the polymer receiver with an aluminum receiver and went with a free float handguard years ago. That setup as it is now is actually reliable and pretty accurate. The Chiappa is a copy of the Tac Sol upper.

I haven’t had problems with any of the plastic feed lipped magazines. And I have put a very many through my two magazines. However, I would still like a few of the BlackDog magazines, too.

That will have to wait though, as I have just received an advertisement for my well liked CMMG rimfire magazines, for a scant ten clams a piece.
That’s two for one, a lot of rounds to have on hand for a range trip.

Good mags. Mine are a mix of the S&W 15-22s with spacers, and Black Dog 15s and 25s in both plastic and steel lips. No problems with any of them.
FWIW I have a few other rimfires that use hi cap mags with plastic feed lips that are still going strong. But IMHO a steel lipped Black Dog will probably last the longest.
