best 380 under 300$

The best one would likely be one purchased over 30yrs ago or before the law changed on pocket gun size. Alot of 32 and 380s went bye around that time.

Mine happen to be Gen 1 and one is plain black and one is the 10th Anniversary Edition.
Awesome little pistols.

I had another all black Gen 1 but somebody wanted it bad so I reported it stolen.

If I was getting a cheap gun to leave locked away in a vehicle, I would get one that shot cheap ammo. And if I wasn't carrying it, I wouldn't care about getting a small frame gun...unless I could only afford a small box to keep it in.

Agreed, I'd track down a used, police trade in glock 17 for $300 and call it good.

Agreed. If you’re stuck on .380, how about a used Glock 42? I bought mine for just a little more than your budget and it’s an excellent little pistol. I replaced the factory sights with Truglo tritium and it’s accurate out of all proportion to its diminutive size. Mine has been unerringly reliable, except when I tried the Magguts +1 kits; horrible. Stock springs and followers work just fine for 6+1.

I checked out the LCP Max last week. It rattles when you shake it and it feels a bit flimsy.

That rattle is the extra barrel, slide, and frame clearance . . . for reliability's sake.

I joke, but my Max hasn't choked and it shoots as good as you can expect for a little 10+1 pocket gun.

But then it doesn't have a cartridge in the chamber and a cartridge pressing against the bottom of the slide from the magazine. Otherwise known as a useless empty gun.

BTW, if we're talking "truck gun" I'd be getting something bigger than a pocket gun.

True. I have a thoroughly molested, disowned, forgotten about, dragged behind a taco truck, set on fire, born under a bad sign Glock 17. It makes little girls weep openly, and nuns throw up in their mouths, when it sees the light of day. It was free. Actually I think the “owner” might have paid me to take it. But it shoots, and with +2 extensions I have 19+1 rounds of Underwood hollowpoints for come what may. It rides in a hidden biometrically locked safe in my car. I gave my truck to my boy so I’m back in a sedan. So it’s a sedan gun. Sounds more respectable. The SIG P365 and Glock 42 are my “everywhere” guns now, ‘specially the G42 ‘cause it’s teeny. But that G17 man, it won’t be the belle of the ball in the evidence locker but it’ll for damn sure do its (last) job.
