man concealable 45's is a sweet spot in the gun world if you ask me. here's a few: glock 30s, kahr cw45, m&p 45c, xds, xdm 45c, colt lw commander/new agent, sig p220 carry/compact, beretta px4 45c( I think they make one), man I could go on all day. I wish I could own all of these

Biggest problem with 1911's (and any gun really) is more the grip length than the barrel length. IMHO

SIG P220 Compact is my usual carry pistol - reliable, concealable, accurate, and has great sights (with tritium dots for night as well).

Here is a picture of my Kahr PM9 laying on top of my Kimber Ultra CDP .45
I've gotta learn to read before I look at the pictures. All I could think of was, "what the heck has this idiot gone and done to his poor Kahr, and what's with the tang of that grip safety that lands square in the palm of your hand?"

:D

I agree you can carry full size...with the right clothing. I have to wear tucked in shirts all the time, and my body structure doesn't seem conducive to a tucked holster. My favorite carry gun, as such, is an XDS 45.

Here's a vote for a Kimber Pro TLE II .45 ACP in stainless. 4 inch bushing less barrel, standard 7 and 8 round magazines fit, 10 rounds for the practice range.

If you can find a used one, a Colt Government Pocketlite in .380 for lighter wear or pocket carry. Only 12 ounces with an alloy frame and steel slide.

Both 1911's with the same operating package, so if you change guns the muscle memory is exactly the same.

I certainly won't claim 'best', but for accuracy, size, capacity and weight, the M&P45c gets my strongest recommendation. It's not the smallest compact 45 around but IMO you can take compact too far and I believe a good number of makers have done that. If you can shoot it, fine, but I prefer what I think is an excellent balance between size, capacity and carryability.

After all manner of 1911s, Glocks, Sigs and HKs, this was the one that felt good to me. Price wasn't much of an object at the time, and it was still the choice. 8+1 and it's still mighty thin.

The only people who seem to love Taurus PT-145's are the people who own them. That's why love the PT-145...I own one. Not the quality of some of the other guns mentioned, but if you're on a budget, it may be one of your best options. I'm not sure any other gun can pack 10 rounds of .45 auto into a space that small.

Good luck.

This is the best I can do. They are surprisingly close. The Kimber is in no way a pocket pistol, the Kahr is, loaded weight is totally another matter

I agree, the PT-145 is also a great pistol, and reasonably priced. I would have bought another one if I hadn't stumbled onto a lightly used S&W M&P Compact 45 recently.

Two favorites of mine are my Colt officers enhanced and Para LDA Carry. They fit in a jean pocket if you don't have the holster with.
