Sorry. I'm not giving any of my money to or trusting anything that says China on it even though they are undoubtedly top of the line for there class. I have a sub conscious fear that they have a built in design flaw for the firing pin or something to break right when i need it the most to sabotage me. I am likely going to go with a RIA(korea/phillipeans?) or the Kahr Auto-Ord. because its made in the good ole U.S. of A. Wouldn't say no to a Springfield if i find one locally,GI or Mil-Spec sub $525 out the door, but im not paying shipping and transfer fees. Thanks guys

:cuss::banghead:

Your just so totally misinformed dude.

I trust American metallurgy and machining better when it comes to firearms, sorry dude. Same for my Brazilian Taurus's.However i would take an Italian Beretta over a USA Corp. one any day. I also think Swiss,German,and Austrian guns can be better than allot of US ones of the same category. I also drive Imports like Honda and Suzuki. It has nothing to do with the race card. Nothing wrong with wanting to invest my money back into my home country either. China gets enough of my money from Wallmart. Even if their frames and slides are forged don't they make the firing pins out of melted down jennings,lorcins,and hi-points? :neener:Would take a Yugo SKS or Romanian AK over a Chinese one any day also. Guess that makes more of them for you.

My Taurus PT1911 has been an excellent 1911! over 3000rnds in last 2yrs. Still runs like new only issue has been the front sight came loose. I put red locktite on the allen screw and tightend back down.

>>>What is the best $500ish parkerized 1911 to get me in the game. I was looking at a nice $489 Kahr but have seen others for around $500 that i cant recall. I think it was paraord. but the Kahr seemed very nicely machined. Where are the Kahrs parts made and assembled?

I'm just looking for a cheap one to see if i like them and eventually use it as a range/beater until I can afford a nice parkerized Colt 1911A1 Gov. <<<

You got started asking for suggestions and I happily provided one without bashing other 1911 brands. Im Pinoy and I like RIAs too. But I prefer the NORC considering I have 3 of them of w/c ill be more than happy to report my feedback about them at anytime. So for me at that price range my vote goes to NORC. But of course you've got every right to choose whatever brand you like . And by the way NORINCO never melt jennings, or lorcin for firing pins, or hi points for that matter, they melt down railroad tracks and dried docked russian destroyers and cruisers for that. :neener::neener::neener:

Part of my requirements was for it to be WWII/GI historically correct. "Made in China" on the side doesn't really fit in. I also insinuated that it needed to be NIB and it would be hard to find a like new 15 year old Norinco for sub 500 at pawn shop prices. I do thank everyone for the crash course on 1911 clones. I'm not trying to bash Taurus either. I have had great luck with my M94,604,and PT92 as far as reliability but they did drill the hole and install a roll pin to high in my 92 barrel that holds the locking block plunger in allowing the plunger to fall out locking the slide shut randomly after a few hundred rounds. That bad quality control makes me not trust them for carry but they are great for plinking and hunting.
