Who makes the best all steel 4" 1911. I would prefer it not be a Kimber (I have two, I'm not knocking them, I love mine).

Is this available in a non bobbed configuration?

All right, as long as were here, what about the best 4" 1911 > $1200?

Springfield GI WW2 Champion. I even liked it so much I started customizing it more to my liking and here is the final result....just before selling it to my buddy, who still carries it some 5 years and another 5000 rounds later.

Hey 10-ring, do you have a photo of that one facing the other direction (so you can see the ejection port side)?

Nice ones both of you.

I bought a pair of Colt Commanders and recieved them a little over a year ago. Both are 100% reliable, one has about 1000 rounds through it and the other about 4000. I put a beavertail, ambi safeties, NM bushing, lowered and tightened the slide to frame fit, did some trigger work, replaced the trigger, and a few other small details on one, the one with 4000 rounds through it. It continues to be dead reliable, is really accurate, and keeps me company every day. It is tight and right. Even at current prices and paying to have the work done it is WAY under $1200, probably on the order of $950-1000. If I was in the buying mood with $1200 to spend I would look long and hard at Les Baer. You can buy a better gun at twice the price, but I am not sure you will get any closer than that.

If you want something "different" and still out standing why not let Coal Creek Armory do you a custom?

Here is one of the "Little Bastards" that they do. This one has a 4.5" barrel, but they also do 4.25" and 4". Their "menu" of options is just about limitless.

They also do really sweet High Power conversions as well! Note the bushing.
