Who do you guys think makes the best AR-15? Surprisingly I was told by a dealer at a gun show today to avoid colt, he recommended Rock River and DPMS. I once thought colt was the best, if not who is? Lastly what do you know about the S&W M&P-15, I thought I would ask because I have heard wonderful things about the M&P pistols, so how are the rifles?

Hmm, seems like this question gets asked a lot, but I would look at CMMG. I'm pretty sure if I buy anoither AR it will be a CMMG. Charles Daly is also looking good if you look at the features.

To tell you the truth it is hard for ME to say which is the best, as I only have 1 AR-15, a Bushmaster, and I know Bushmaster isn't 'Top Tier' but it works for me, I've had zero troubles with it, and I'm happy with it.

Hope this helps.

Is it safe to assume this dealer just happened to be selling RRA and DPMS?

LMT may be better, but the "bang for the buck" category has got to go to CD

This is a loaded question.

Best value? Best features? Best build quality? Best reliability? Best warranty? Best accuracy?

What do you want from your AR? How will it be used? How often will you use it? After answering those questions it will be easier to answer which will be the best AR for your purpose.

Best period without factoring in price, availability or anything else?

Probably Wilson Combat, Noveske or Les Bauer.

Whacked dealer..Colt produces a fine AR-15 and has a great resale value.I always watch for Colts...LMT makes a great AR as well..Rock River..Eww! Sorry not impressed.I know Pre ban hardly means anything at the moment but a Preban HBAR Colt is a favorite of mine...Les Baer makes great tactical arms..As for the Smith & Wesson M&P's I dont care for them..I am rather picky when it comes to AR's though.Dont get me wrong I am a huge fan of S&W revolvers and 3rd gen pistols mainly their Tactical series from their performance center..

Wilson's Combat?They customize I didn't think they produced firearms..

hahaha, and I just googled Charles Daly to see what they offer in the AR lineup. Apparently nothing anymore!

^^^ That's funny, me too. I was going to post (before I realized this is a 2 year old thread), that it's strange how people didn't learn their lessons about Charles Daly from years past.

who makes the best?? me--i rolled my own. ain't hard and saved a ton of money. got what i wanted, shoots great. all the arm chair experts chew on it:neener:

I guess they have been hit hard with all that has been going on. I am pretty sure Charles Daly will be back in the market soon.
