Let me first say that this is a fun thread, not something I take very seriously. I put these together because I liked the colors, not necessarily because I think it matters. While it's true that there's very little black in nature, I don't necessarily care about camouflage for hunting and don't typically use it. I do particularly despise the generic mossy oak/real tree patterns but have had a resurgence in interest in some of the military patterns, from old school woodland to modern multicam. I was thinking that OCP would be a good match for fall around these parts. So I put together this 16" .300Blk with a combination of Aero and AR Stoner FDE parts, coupled with a B King's parts kit, Geissele trigger, SOLGW barrel and B5 furniture. Decided on the lightweight Leupold 1" tube 1-4x that I found used locally. IMHO, FDE is too light in color to blend well and I may do some rattle can dark brown on it.

This Springfield was bought as-pictured, just because it's OD green, except I changed the 7.5" 5.56 barrel for a 8.5" .300Blk. Don't need my eyebrows scorched off every time I shoot it. It actually shoots really well with the 220gr Nosler. Wears a Burris 3x prism. It's a sweet little package.

To me the winner as far as blending with fall foliage is burnt bronze with the B5 furniture in coyote brown. IMHO, coyote should be far more popular than FDE, except in the desert. This one is a lightweight 6.5Grendel that now wears an ACOG 4x with a Leupold DeltaPoint in a 45° mount. Used a B King's builder set with Faxon barrel and another Geissele trigger.

All three are obviously better in that regard than the gray/tungsten Grendel Hunter upper. Don't know how I ended up with four hunting AR's. I think they multiply in the dark. :p

I had my 6.8 Cerakoted in Multicam except I had Coyote substituted for the FDE and used FDE for the super light tan. This made the overall pattern a couple shades darker. The result hides extremely well in my neck of the woods.
It’s going to blend even better once my Vortex Razor 1-6 and FDE mount arrive. 685A9704-516E-4D91-8C93-C705828AFD25.jpeg

I’ve been thinking of doing my 350
Legend AR (Remember when people called em MSR = Modern Sporting Rifle I still like the term and may use it more) I’ll never forget My older brother got an Ambush Firearms if you remember them in 6.8 SPC II that’s done in
realtree camo that I’ve always wanted love the furniture on it and don’t get me started on the R-25 and R-15 from Remington I Lusted after that look I’ll probably do it in realtree or mossy oak but yes I think a camo AR is a great idea if you hunt with it

Not “exactly” an AR, it’s actually an original Rhodesian FAL parts kit build I did years ago, nor is it “necessarily“ a fall pattern but it works. Best part of doing a Rhodesian paint job is you don’t have to be good at painting a camo pattern. Actually, it’s far more realistic if you aren’t since those young troopies weren’t professional painters either.

Your camo looks great, but that Banish 30 needs some treatment. I have a TAB Gear suppressor cover in multicam that works fantastic at keeping mirage out of the way AND camoflaging the suppressor.

It’s a TBAC Ultra 7 and the Armageddon Gear cover is coming in the mail today.

Well, in that case, carry on.

Comparing the TBAC Ultra 7 side by side with the Banish 30, they look close to identical. It's a good looking rig.
Gracias, amigo. I got tired of looking at that naked can hanging off the end of my rifle. Looked hard at TAB Gear covers, but wasn’t sure what would fit best. Armageddon Gear made it easy, so I went with them.

Paint it sand colored and add a few steaks of dark gray and green and it will do for all seasons in my area. Fall and winter especially..

Most camo patterns are too solid and too dark. They need more openness. Beyond a ghillie, the predator patterns are the best in my book. Colors don't matter much except for waterfowl. Tones matter more than specific colors. That's my opinion anyway
