So, who has experience with foliage fighting shotguns? I'm partial to the Remington 870 or the Benelli Super 90. Shot size that works best for me is 7 1/2 or 8 shot.

Cylinder or Improved Cylinder for low to mid-range branches, Full Choke/Turkey Choke for high ones.

My opinions are based on experience:

Don't try this at home if you live in a regular neighborhood! :)

Hmmm...

I often catch vegetation when I fish.

I'd never thought about hunting vegetation, though.:D

I grew up with an old bee-keeper down the road who taught me to hunt.

He used a full-choke Model 12 and quail loads to shoot honeybee swarms out of tall trees.

One shot would clip a pretty decent sized limb.

Worked like a Model 12 always does.
Perfectly!

For years I've used shotguns to trim inaccessible limbs and branches around our deer stands....#4 shot works well.

Im glad this is not an explosives forum.

Me: Those branches are blocking my Satellite Dish.
Neighbor: Heres some nitro. Blow that tree to Pluto.
Me: Thats OK I think I have some TNT in the basement. I can use that.

im a fan of an ithaca model 37 with a 28" barrel and full choke, grew up blowing branches off oak trees for firewood with that bad boy!

I've killed a few trees in my day! Last summer a foot thick rotten tree was obstructing my shooting range... about 100 rounds of #2 lead later, she was down! I have so much old duck ammo...
