I've been using an old CVA in line capper with my '58 Remingtons, but it is less than optimal. Has anyone found a capper that works better with the Remmy?
With the narrow opening for the caps there isn't much you can use but the inline style cappers but if you modify the area around the nipples, basically having a semi round area ground out to open it up you can use a Ted Cash style capper.
I got to break in my Remmy for the first time on Thanksgiving Day and I used the modified Ted Cash with the little fingers ground off..Had no problem with it.
The Thompson Center "Star Capper" works with the Pietta Remington. The cap is pressed on to the nipple and then the capper is pulled outward to "rip" and separate the cap out through the slot in the plastic cup holder.
Fortunately, since I owned Star cappers long before buying a Remington revolver, I didn't need to buy another type just to have a capper that worked with it.
