There is a thread currently on WWB vs Rem UMC (http://thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=359713).

It is ironic as I was thinking earlier of posting a similar thread, but specifically for FMJ ammo.

After I filled up my most recent cans with premium HPs, I decided it would be wise to have FMJs too. In this case I was thinking for .40SW and .223. I went to Walmart yesterday and bought 10 boxes of the .40 SW WWB value pack ($268.80 + tax). I dumped them all into a can that now has WWB FMJ .40 SW.

I was in another Walmart today (I found one that has guns still!) and they had a bigger selection of ammo. I started thinking I should buy some more FMJ ammo just for the heck of it. What to buy though.... what to buy?

I want FMJ that is reliable, consistent, and doesn't foul the fool out of your barrel.

Above are the choices. This is intended to be a general consensus on brand/makes for all calibers, not for specific calibers.

Federal's American Eagle gets my vote.
Affordable,consistent and reliable.
Just fired off 200 rounds of .38 Special,130 grain this past weekend.
Flawless.

In various calibers, i'm pretty sure i own some of all of those, yet, oddly, i don't think i've actually fired any of them. Seriously. But in my years of gun-forum trolling and participating, i seem to have the vaguest sense of the Winchesters as having the most happy customers.
How's that for a next-to-useless response !!!:D

I gladly shoot ANY of the above in my weapons. I didn't vote because I feel there is little if any difference among them...

American Eagle Followed by Magtech, Followed by WWB.
UMC seems to be about as accurate as buckshot, and WWB doesn't seem to be a heck of a lot better (good Brass though).

In a .40 S&W Glock 22 anyway.

I have about 800 Rounds of Reloads that shoot Better than UMC & WWB do for some unknown reason.

As a side note though I have yet to have (on about 350 rounds through it sofar) a single Jam, or any other problem with any FMJ ammo in my Glock 22.

I switched to Magtech for my 380 and have not had any issues at all with it.

It's a touch dirtier then others ( not bad ), but reliable and goes bang everytime.

Currently, the Magtech is cheaper then other ammo where I live.

For 9mm, the Monarch Green Box JHP is the most consistent and best cycling ammo I've found...and it's the cheapest (can't speak for any other caliber in hardball). Crazy but true...that Serbian Ammo rocks in 9mm.

NASCAR

PS...of course, for self-protection, then I think Winchester, Corbon and Speer offer much better loads in the HP.

Mag Tech is VERY GOOD ball ammo.

+1 Not bad in price to.

Cabelas in Boise Currently has Magtech 250 Round Boxes of 180 grn .40 S&W FMJ for $89.99
& 250 Round Boxes of 230 grn .45ACP FMJ for $92.99

Shot a lot of MagTech, good stuff. WWB is fairly dirty and always gums up the pistol(I run Slide Glide).
I like Rem UMC for the price. Much cleaner and very consistent.

I do not know, and do not really care which one is “best”. I have shot Blazer Brass, Blazer (aluminum), UMC, Wolf, HSM remanufactured, and more. They all run fine through my .45acp handgun. Slight differences in fouling matter not to me. If this is for practice only, I would think any would do and you should purchase the best value. I use the term “value” because re-loadable brass is worth more to me. That being said, the only .45acp pistol ammo I have been buying for quite a while is UMC from Dick’s; only when it is on sale and I have a Dick’s ScoreCard Reward Program certificate to burn. Lately, all I have been shooting is HSM’s remanufactured. I have had zero problems with the 2000+ rounds of HSM expended this calendar year.

In summary, if this is for practice and your handgun(s) will run all those listed in the poll, I suggest you not worry about “best” and just buy the cheapest.
