I stopped in to National Gun and Gear in Cary today and had a great chat with the owner, Bruce King. What a pleasant surprise and welcomed change from some of the obnoxious shops in the Triangle area! You owe it to yourself to pop in and see the shop. The selection is quite good and Bruce is the real deal...friendly AND knowledgeable!

Bruce is friendly and fair for sure.

He's willing to order just about anything for you at competitive pricing as well.

I also shop at Mace Sports in Mebane. Much larger, mostly very good customer service, and a really really wide selection of handguns, rifles, shotguns.

I haven't been to Mace Sports yet, but I will give it a try. National Gun and Gear is in a very convenient location for me, so they will likely get the majority of my attention (and money :) ). At least I won't have to go to Young Guns again, EVER...arggggggh!

I'll have to check this shop out; it seems to have a good reputation from what has
been said so far. Fuquay Varina has two shops on Main Street that are good places
to go with fair prices - Fuquay Gun and Gold and Sovereign Guns. The customer service
is very good at both stores. I also like the Personal Defense and Safety Center on
Tryon Road. Their selection is smaller but they have a indoor range. Ed's Guns in Vass,
N.C. has some great prices on guns and ammunition and they are worth the one hour
drive from Raleigh. Young Guns in Apex is overpriced and the sales staff there came off
as arrogant. I've only been twice and with other options available now, I will not go back.

I would have to 2nd both of those recommendations. Prices are reasonable in each of those shops and the customer service is great. I was pleasantly surprised to see one of my students working the counter in one of those shops when I walked in. It seems they are friendly with everyone and that counts a lot for me when I am deciding on where to spend my money.

Fuquay Gun and Gold is my gunshop. I have no reason to shop anywhere else. I just wish Clay would open a Raleigh location.
