A almost new Ruger came into my life this week, a SP-101 in 32mag to go with the 6" SSM I bought new years ago. Shot it Wednesday with some Federal ammo and some 32 S&W long ammo I loaded years ago with the Hornady SWCs. The factory ammo shot fine but my reloads were destabilized at 30 feet, need to test them out of the SSM again, have not shot that one for over ten years and only remember shooting tin cans which aren't a good target for detecting tumblers.

Any who, I would really appreciate recommendations for loads using XTPs, Gold Dots and other jacketed bullets for a shorter barreled Ruger.

Thanks in advance

I have tried all kinds of bullets and all kinds of powder, working up loads until the brass would stick in 32 S&W Long.

I found that 85 gr Hornady bullets and either LIL'GUN or 800X powder are best for me.

The 32 is sensitive to powder charge. Wimpy BB gun like performance is sometimes a grain or two from a stuck case. I work up in 1.0 gr increments in many cartridges, but in 32, I work up in 0.1 gr increments.

For standard power=9.0-9.1 grains V V N-110 under Hdy 85 xtp, Fed 100 primer Starline 32 mag case. Essentially Sierra's accuracy load from their manual, but with Hdy 85 grain xtp.

For max power =max charges of Lil gun (following Hodgen's mini manual) and Speer 100 jhp. Puts the magnum in 32 magnum.
