I have an early 1980s Belgian Browning Hi-Power and bought a few surplus Argentine 17-round mags. After loading them to capacity, one of them split along the rear seam.

I'd like to buy some of the best-made mags that will stand up to use over time. Can anyone tell me what the best and most durable Hi-Power magazines are? I want these to last and withstand the stress even when fully loaded.

Thank you.

MecGar, they are the factory mags in the Brownings, pretty much all mag debates end in the MecGar.

Hello. I 've used Hi Powers for decades and as others have mentioned, Mec-Gar has consistently provided long-lived, top quality Hi Power magazines. I recommend them without hesitation.

Best.

I'm going to be the dark horse and recommend Mec Ga- oh. Uh, nevermind.

In all seriousness, the only mags that I buy that aren't made by Mec Gar are XD .45 mags. Why? Because Mec Gar doesn't make mags for the XD .45

But if and when they do, I'm buying some.

Novak sold some stainless steel mags years and years ago that were very good. I've also had good luck with some old KRDs from South Africa.

But Mec-Gar if you can't find any of the stainless ones. For all I know they were Mec-Gar too.
