I need to order a stainless mini 14 barell already tried egunparts their sold out all I need is a ruger factory mini 14 stainless barell.

Ruger WILL sell you the part or any other "restricted" parts.

Since SMR's also asking how to remove the barrel, I'm assuming he wants to do it himself.

Used to be I'd see mini-14 barrels all the time on Ebay. I checked after my first post above, and didn't see any at all. Still worth keeping an eye out there, IMHO.

Out of curiosity...what has happened that makes you want to change out the barrel? Answering JESmith question I just purchased the mini and was taking it apart and out of curiosity took the barell band thingy apart with the 4 hex screws where the gas piston thing is and went to put it back on and didn't line it up right with the hole under the barell and F****D IT UP!!!! But i didn't notice until I had it screwed on. Its nothing major all it is is just the hole under the barrel is kinda pushed in and and the tiny gas thing won't fit in it ,tried to fix it my self but didn't get anywhere. The funny thing is the gun hasn't EVER BEEN SHOT!!!!!!!!! LOL!!! I was thinking I would just buy another barrel thinking they were like $60-$80 and abundant but couldn't find any for sale. so now im thinking about taking it to a gunsmith and letting him widen the gas hole where the tiny gas thing fits especialy after reading my other thread about taking the barell off. I don't have any of the tools nor expierence to take the barrel off. It is a pretty funny story but I will learn from my mistake. And will never take that F*****G barell band thing off. BTW if the gunsmith cant fix it you will probably see me posting the question Does anyone have a "Stainless Mini-14 factory Barrel for sale?" I will have the gunsmith take the old barrel off and put the new one on. Im not messing the gun up any more.

Sturm, please don't take this the wrong way, but for the price of a new barrel, and the labor for a smithy to put it back together, you could buy an SKS and have a better caliber if you're still intent on deer hunting with it. I get it if you want to repair it seeing as how you've already bought it and all, but for a Mini-14, I think I'd just cut my losses and move on. YMMV.

Best of luck man.

They stake those hex head screws in there for a reason.

Call Ruger and see if they'll do anything for you.

Bump for curiosity's sake... assuming krochus didn't run him off :D

Hey Sturm, did you ever get this resolved?

Jason

Sturm, You may have not messed up things as bad as you think. Take it to a competent gunsmith that WORKS on minis and see what he says. Don't take it to the gunshop down the street. Another option is Accuracy Systems Inc. www.accuracysystemsinc.com

Krochus youre right it is hilarous BTW is the gun still worth $900 because I only Paid $550 for it (the guy I bought it off of is a friend of mine also the gun has realy never been shot.

NO the gun is worth $550 as all new mini's are. But by the time you get it fixed so that you can shoot it you'll have $900 tied up in your Mini.

I wouldn't do anything else to the rifle before I wrote RUGER a very nice letter in an attempt to get them to fix your gun. I haven't used Ruger's CS myself but others give them high marks.

Im seriously considering contacting ruger because all the gun shops around here do not work on guns. BTW will ruger sell me a new receiver and barell already assembled because if I order a new barell by it self I cant put it on and there are realy no gunsmiths around here to work on it and I dont want to send it off to get it worked on so that is the only way I can see me fixing it. Or I just breakdown and sell it for$350.

I don't know how bad you messed it up. If it really is bad enough that you need it re-barreled, I would really consider selling it if someone will buy it in that condition. Sooner or later in life you end up running damage control. Lesson learned, move on. If it were a match grade AR or M-14, then yeah, it'd be worth the fix, but it's a Mini. If Ruger can't/won't help you out on this, then you might want to cut your losses. That Yugo SKS for $200 is starting to look pretty good now isn't it?

try contacting clark custom guns. they do conversions on mini-14's. if you order a conversion package they take the old parts and replace them with their parts....they keep the old parts and sell them.
obm, I will tell you, Clark's is top notch, but they've discontinued the Mini conversions there, at least the parts that Sturm would be interested in.

The best thng to do with any Mini is to find a sucker and pawn it off on him.

Or, if you have a conscience, use it for a boat anchor, and buy something decent.
