Who are the best potential candidates for President in 2008, both Democrat and Republican, who will support- or at least not dismantal, the 2nd Amendment? Please make realistic replies only! Thank you.

Liklihood of winning a nomination or the election, quien sabe?

Of "hat in the ring" people who would publicly support RKBA, I'd venture only Tancredo and Gingrich--if they go for it. All the rest aren't really credible about real-world support.

One guy who may have an inside said the Republican candidate will be a guy named Huckaby. Unlike the current CNN picks, he is actually a conservative, doesn't carry any baggage and is not drunk.

Prior to his political career, Huckabee was pastor of several Southern Baptist churches in Arkadelphia, Texarkana, and Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He served as President of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention from 1989 to 1991 and as President of a religious-oriented television station. - Wikipedia

I expect that Huckabee's priorities will be morality and religion. I have already heard him comment about what is important to him. It has been hard enough keeping George Bush at bay on this stuff. I wouldn't favor more religious influence in government. You have to know though that Huckabee will be the leading pro-life candidate, certainly the more credible.

Every election will be more and more a battle for the church vote, which is probably a segment wherein a high percentage actually vote. It was enough to get Ohio for Bush and swing the election, so it should be taken seriously.

I would vote for Tancredo

I like his messsage, but I at this point, don't believe he is "nominateable" (is that a word? ).

Like Gingrich, he is not "mainstream" enough...another way of saying he will be portrayed as being a whack job...fairly or not, that's the way it is.

Hope I am wrong.

The little I know about Huckaby (sp?) I am fine with him so far. I'll say the same about Santorum for now.

Anybody but McCain :barf:

McCain needs to retire or find another profession.. he is NOT a good elected official....there are much better ones...

I like Tancredo for taking the issue of illegal immigration to heart - given the opportunity, he'd get my vote. I've also heard a few good things about Oklahoma's senator Coburn (sp?) regarding budget discipline, so he'd be worth a look.

Of the "serious" candidates' names being bandied about, George Allen (R) and New Mexico's Bill Richardson (D) seem to be the "least bad" choices.

We could - and almost certainly will - do a lot worse than putting a Newt Gingrich / Ron Paul ticket in the White House.

Given the way things are going, and the list of "likely" nominees from each party, I'll repeat my prediction about the next Presidential election: Nothing good will come of it. :(

I would love to see Bill Richardson run on the Democratic ticket. He's much better on almost every issue than anyone else in his party.

If the Repubs run McCain, Giuliani, or Romney, and the Dems run Richardson, I will vote Richardson.

The LiberalMedia will portray any Republican nominee as a "whack job".

I'd like to see Ron Paul or Newt or Condi run, but I think in Condi's case she would have problems shaking her association with the current administration.

AMEN Longeyes!

If the Repubs run McCain, Giuliani, or Romney, and the Dems run Richardson, I will vote Richardson.

Having lived under a ghoulianni police state in NYC I will never ever vote for that low life gun grabber.
He was worse then Blii Clinton when it came to guns!!!

Mccclibby has that mccain/feingold that was so bad the ACLU & the NRA helped each other bring a lawsuit against it!

Also mccclibby wants to end private party sales. (i.e end gun shows)

And also the other way around. It seems nobody runs anymore on what they want to do but tear down what the other person has done.

I'm going to have to go with Hank on this one.

I would like to see nothing more than Ron Paul in the Whitehouse.

AT least it would get him the hell out of arkansas. Hey, it worked for Clinton.

Bill "Mayonaisse Boy" Richardson has some of you folks really snowed. He is about as slimy as they come, and the only good thing about him running for President is the fact that he isn't giving New Mexico much of his attention these days.

I'd like to hear more about Tancredo. Can someone explain where he stands on RKBA and the rest of the Bill of Rights ?

Condi :barf:

Classic example of a doublespeaking career politician who has failed upwards. And I've not heard her say a word on RKBA besides repeating whatever George says.
