Is there a certain time of year to get good deals on shotguns. After hunting season? After Christmas?

Yeah

from private individuals, after the 1st of the year when Christmas bills are due. If you've got cash you can get some deals

I was just talking to one of my friends the other day about this. He goes into different bars, VFW's, Legion, etc. Asks if anybody has guns, tools, etc they want to sell. Unbelieveable some of the deals you can get. Gotta have cash in-hand. Got make the deal on the spot.

Bought a 1956 (IIRC) pan head HD for $1,600. Snap-On toolbox and tools worth over 10k for $1,200. 1911 .45 for $100.

Another friend bought a 2 year old Ranger boat & trailer with a 225 Merc motor for 13k. It was $32,000 new. Divorce.

I was thinking, depending on the local economy, it might be opportune too (maybe not as good) in December before Xmas. Hunting season has passed in many respects and people might want to have extra cash to buy stuff for Xmas.

Seems a little sad and mercenary in a way to think like that but that's life. Sometimes it's bad luck, sometimes it's bad choices why people get into a tight money situation.

A lot of people in this area can't see the need for owning/housing a shotgun year round. So they buy an inexpensive shotgun before hunting season starts and sell it once hunting season is over, planning to do the same thing next year. I have gotten some good deals on used Remington 870 Express guns etc. after Christmas...

Between the day after Christmas and the start of the retail inventory tax deadline--it is really interesting to see retailer's flush stock so that their is no held over inventory of seasonal goods.

Shotgun shells,
Shotguns,
Cammo,
Hunting Accessories,

I've seen stuff for sale cheap because it would cost more to warehouse/handle it for the next 9 months than to re-coupe cost and buy new stock.
