I finally got my hands on an old original Rockchucker.
Along with my find came accessories, an old 510 scale and the Reloader Special press.
Not bad for $100 (still smiling).
My question is about the RS press.
Does anyone have any preferred dedicated uses for the RS press.
I was planning on making it my dedicated decapping/priming station.
Just looking for ideas I may not have considered.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I often use one of my extra single stage presses for stuff like that.
It's nice having multiple presses.

I have a Rockchucker 4 and a Partner Press. Sometimes when I need to Bell Brass (Lead Bullets, especially 451 and 452) when I start Loading, I will setup the Partner to Bell the brass, then finish seating with the Rockchucker. It saves going thru all the Brass to bell, then starting over to seat bullets.

I do the same thing.
I have an old Lee single stage press I use for decapping only - but it is lightweight and requires more work from me than I think it should to get the job done.
I know this RS press will do a better job and require less effort on my part.
The RS press has a different feel than my other single stage presses - more of a cam-over feel than a straight press.
It was because of this different feel that I asked the question about a desired usage.
Either way, my reloading just got a bit easier and with more options.

My RS does all kinds of reloading duties that are mishmash - might be belling/sizing some low production pistol rounds, decapping, but most often it's doing bullet sizing, via Lee sizers... Perfect work for my old beloved RS, that does not as you know, have compound leverage.

I used an RS for many years, reloading both pistol and rifle loads. I came across a very old Rockchucker and set the RS aside. The Rockchucker and a Dillon RL 550B handled all I needed to load, so after a dozen or so years I sold the RS. It was a good press.

It's totally useless and you can't throw it in the regular trash. It has to be properly recylced! I can send you a free shipping label and dispose of it for you. :D

I use a little single stage for sizing bullets mostly now. I did use it for rifl loads and decapping ocacssionaly. No I use the turret for rifle, progressive for pistol and the single stage for bullet sizing.

They are great for beating a stuck case out too not that that happens often..:uhoh:

Nice try:)
I'm sticking to my original plan and using it to replace my lightweight Lee single stage that I use for decapping.
Have an old Lubrisizer I use for sizing/lubing my cast bullets so the bench is going to get crowded or I need to go back to the quick switch mounts.
All good problems to have;)

I think I can get some more use out of the old press if you want to reuse it. Reuse, repurpose, recycle did I get that in the correct order. Kinda like 06 brass with a split neck, scrap, I think not. I can see 308,7mm Mauser, 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser, 243 just wanted to name a few.

I have an old, small RCBS press (I forget the model) that I now use for decapping and other light duty, "dirty" tasks like trimming with a trim die. It was my first press.

It is nice to have a spare press for some specialized tasks and not have to disturb the settings on the main press.
