I've got 540 rounds of .308 that I don't need. I'd like to sell it but the quotes I"ve gotten from UPS are ridiculous ($50+ from CA to NB). Do any of you have any ideas about better shippers. Thanks.

I use UPS. The other choice is FedEx Ground, and I don't think you'll find them to be any less expensive. You can't ship ammo by USPS, so you're stuck with the private carriers.

If there's no hurry you might find a trucking company that'll take it ... but if you do that you might find that the trucking company "takes it."

Your only choices are UPS Ground or Fedex Ground. Both services are about the same. I usually have less of a hassle with the UPS distribution center counter people. But that depends on who is working at that time I bring the boxes in. Remember you have to declare the ammo has ORM-D. Also you have to bring it to a company Distribution center(where the trucks are based) as the UPS store and most shipping stores will not accept ammo.

Interesting.. fuel surcharges gone up that much? 2 years ago, I shipped 1600 rounds of 762x54 from WI to OR for $60. Are you going to a hub? Do you have teh ammo in a cardboard box?

Thanks for all the help. I've got a UPS hub about a mile away - guess I'll take the ammo there to ship it.
