I've scanned through here a bunch, i'm trying to find a good website for buying bullets and powder. I'm looking mainly for lead wadcutters for a .38. thanks

edit: I jsut noticed the sticky above with the listing of vendors, guess I shoulda done a little more research before posting up

Number of sources...Midsouth Shooters Supply, Berry's Bullets, Midwest. My opinion is that I can get bullets locally for the same price and not have to pay freight on lead. YMMV depending on your area.

Gun shows are usually very good. The bullets I get locally seem harder and can be pushed hard thru my 45 LC without leading.

I'd suggest getting a copy of Handloader Magazine. There's hundreds of various suppliers and tons of great info. HTH

Try Grafs, free shipping on orders of $20+.
http://www.grafs.com/

Does anyone really believe that shipping, from any source, is really free, or is it more likely that that cost of shipping is built into their price structure?

This isn't a disparagement of Grafs or any other company, just wondering if people really think "free" is "free".

Have you tried your local retailer? They can use the business and they are probably cost competitive. For example, I can get National Bullet .45 200gr lead swc for $25 per 500 plus tax locally. Shipping this kind of weight is expensive unless you can afford to buy enough at a time to qualify for bulk shipping programs. Same with powder, the hazmat fees eat up any price savings you may get. And, the mail order site isn't a neighbor/employer/taxpayer in your area.

theres not much for local retailers here. We have one gun shop that is pretty decent but no reloading, one that is okay but only carries reloading for rifles, and wal-mart. The nearest big city is 50 miles away, not too bad but it's easier to hop on the net. Thanks for the links, I appreciate the help

I am a recovering Midwayusa user since 2000.

Do I read you right in that you have not been satisfied w/ Midway? I have used them almost exclusively thus far--anything I should be concerned about?

Thanks,

midway

i am a midway customer. back when they had 'free shipping' they were my only source, with the exception of power and primers. when they started charging for shipping, i started shopping around. in fact they kinda pi$$ed me off when they did it, and i quit them for about two years or better. they are no longer always the best deal. i still hate their penality for small orders. i feel that it is totally unfair. it was a deal breaker for me. i only went back to using them when they reduced the penalty and reduced the amount of the small order from $40.00 to $25.00 and the penalty to $3.00 from $4.00. what if the grocery store charged you an extra $3.00 for a gallon of milk because you didn't buy a full $25.00 worth of groceries?
i like their plastic ammo boxes. when they went to charging for shipping, their cost to my door, increased substantially.
midway's service is excellent. ordering off the internet couldn't be easier once you learn to navigate their website. they will take back and refund your money if you are unhappy for whatever reason. i sent back a lee loadmaster (the worst piece of reloading crap devised to date, IMHO) and they didn't even blink. i got my refund in short order. they have replaced damaged ammo boxes and a defective case gage, no questions asked.

It's not just the price gouging....

Hi,
I want to buy a .223 reamer and would like to get one that is tighter than SAAMI specs.
I have a copy of the SAAMI dimensions for .223 Remington, but I do not have any information on your product:

http://www.midwayusa.com/rewriteaproduct/938161
Which is ".223 Remington Match"

I would like to find out how that product differs dimensionally from your standard .223 Remington reamer:
