Beto O'Rourke called it quits today. I guess taking people's guns did not play as well with the Democratic base as he expected. He joins Swalwell in proving that gun confiscations won't get you very far.

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris is circling the drain. So much for her "100-day" executive order program against guns.

I'd bet that the Dems won't endorse anyone who has gun confiscation as their main agenda. They have history showing that has always ended bad for their candidate. However, having it as an agenda in a much quieter sense to garner the paranoid voters is how they tend to go. I hope they nominate a total anti-gun zealot to run. They will alienate a good many fence sitters who see the zealots as a bit cracked.

Also, a lot of soccer moms like their cute little guns that give them that quiet security. I believe these new guns catered to the CC crowd has made a lot of previously Dem voters quietly rebel against the staunch anti-gun candidates. I bet they don't even tell their spouses of their desire to flee the sinking ship and go red.

Just a reminder for those of you in Texas -- the filing deadline for running for the Senate is this coming Dec. 9. The timing of Beto's withdrawal from the presidential race may have something to do with preparing to run against Sen. John Cornyn. Otherwise Beto would have stayed in through Super Tuesday.
