This last time out at the range my hands had quite a bit of BP residue, and since it was so hot out, sweaty, which really messed with my grip on my Old Army.

I've thought about having the metal portion of the grip frame checkered, but with such little surface I'm not sure it would help much.

I think I'd much prefer to stick with the wooden grip panels, but overall I suppose function over form makes sense.

What have you guys done to improve your grip?

Try some of the non-skid skate board tape. You can cut it and place it anywhere you might feel the need. Once you figure out what and where you feel the best for your grip, go from there. It doesn't cost much and can be removed easiy.

If the wood is finished in the super glossy "plastic" like varnish or gloss lacquer you could strip it off and re-finish with a finishing oil. The oiled wood, once it dries, has a lot more friction onto sweaty hands than the glossy varnish.

I use the oversize Pachmayers on my ROA... Ugly as home made sin but they work very well..

My grips don't look glossy. And I haven't noticed such poor grip before. But my last time out was terrible!
I've wondered about having them checkered.
I thought about gloves too, but its quite hot here, and gloves would t be appreciated for long.
In the field I suppose the main thing would be sweaty hands as I doubt they'd be sooty often enough.
