Just when I thought I had all the rifles I wanted, my dear mother gave me some money to spend on "something nice I would like but would not buy for myself".
So, I went looking on a used guns classifieds website looking for a decent trap shotgun. It is where I thumbled upon the rifle mentioned in this post. New in box.
It is good looking, for sure
I know my handwriting can be challenging for some, so I will clarify the distance: 34 yards, lasered. I don't know why that distance, but it was that or 100 yards. On a fist trip with my new toy, I opted for the easiest way.
Open sights, on a rest. It can accommodate an optical sight, mine shall not do so.
Before anyone flames the lack of accuracy (mine or the rifle's, or both), I will remind them that I have other rifles for the target shooting purpose, as well as other rifles for hunting at longer range (got lucky this year, another story).
Mechanical single trigger, shoots bottom barrel first. Extractor. Flawless operation on the first range trip. Trigger did reset and the rifle fired the upper barrel after a clic on an empty brass.
Recoil not bad, a little bit more bite with the Gold Medal, contrarily to what I expected, but still easy on the shoulder.
I like it.
My son, who began shooting last winter with a Red Ryder BB rifle, has already an eye on it. I am wondering if the stock's shape, made to shoot it right handed, would handicap him much when he gets to shoot it. He shoots backwards, just like my left-handed father.
I ordered 220 gr. Remington Core-Lokt, I think they will go together well.
