I noticed a few days ago that Lock, Stock, and Barrel hasn't been advertising on GB. There are also a couple other vendors I occasionally checked haven't been seen either.
What could the reason be?

I just hit their website and the GB link works. I checked out the Wildey .45 Win Mag they have listed…so far at $2,200 plus and auction closes 3-6-22.

Stay safe.

More profit selling over the counter, direct to the public.

GB -
For example, a $1500 item would cost:

  1. $250 times 6% = $15.00
  2. $1250 times 3.5% = $43.75
  3. Total = $58.75
A $500 item would cost:

  1. $250 times 6% = $15.00
  2. $250 times 3.5% = $8.75
  3. Total = $23.75
Plus shipping is a pain..

For less common, high end stuff, I see GB making sense. However, with sales tax on things, their 1% fee they added to the buyer for collecting said tax, credit card fees, and shipping costs I am shying away from GB more myself as a buyer.

Plus, had a questionable seller sell misrepresented items (polymer Beretta take off parts he put in new Beretta steel parts packaging) and GB did NOTHING but send me a form letter. I have heard that they are very much in favor of the seller and could care less about the buyers. Now, I only know of my one case but that seems to be the way it is to me.

I'm going by my local shops more often to check inventory.

Would rather support the local guys, am tired of all the costs after the sell, and GB allowing questionable sellers with no action against them doesn't sit well with me.

You’ve got to remember not everyone has any or just one local gun shop. There are the big box stores but they have nothing I am interested. I’m always looking for older and more interesting guns. Even the gun shows don’t seem to have much any more and they have gotten expensive. So for me, that leaves GB. I can usually find what I’m looking for, if the price is too high I can wait a while for a new listing.

I never thought GB fees were that high, but now add in sales tax & shipping and I rethink common items as it’s not worth the convenience of just having it delivered to the house so look a little harder locally.
Now if it’s a hard to find part or complete weapon, I’ll “bite the bullet” & pay the fees.
