I know that the ruger mini 14 is a 223 semi auto. Do they or anyone make a bigger caliber rifle that functions and looks like the mini 14

The M1As from Springfield and other manufacturers are based on the non-so-mini M14. So sure...

They come in .308 and as special builds perhaps other .308-sized cartridges.

The Mini-30 as others have mentioned, is available in 7.62x39mm, and there are still some Mini-6.8's around on the used market.

If a guy wan'ts a proper rifle which looks like a Mini-14, the M-1A is the far better option... in service known as the M-14, hence the Mini-14...

Ruger makes the Mini-30 (7.62x39) and a Mini in 300 BLK. They also used to make a 6.8 SPC Mini.

Some guy also made a .450 Bushmaster Mini, but it was a custom job and I don't think he made any more.

An M1A rebarreled ro 358 Win!!! Now we’re talking! Someone do that then invite me to shoot it!

As a note, the M1 Garand was the original. The M1A is a smaller version shooting the .308
/NATO round. The M1 carbine we won’t mention but fits in right here. The Mini14 is Ruger’s take on this family of rifles. You can see the resemblance when compared to each other. I’d like to see this story explained more fully...I’d read it. But that kind of gives you a little info. The Mini30 May be what you’re looking for.
