So I was perusing through Wikipedia, and I came upon this.

Now, the citation doesn't link to the cited article, so can anyone confirm or deny the validity of Bill Cosby being a CHP holder?

I've always liked Bill Cosby, great comedian and a very level-headed guy IMO, rightly named America's Dad. If he's also a supporter of the RKBA, that would be truly awesome in my opinion.

He probably has to pack after giving his "pound cake" speech... he talked smack about every gangbanger in America and told them to grow up.

Yeah, it's a real shame that political correctness shut up such a great role model.

No, the real shame is that the rich and famous in NYC can have their guns, but not the "common folk"....

I agree with you about the 'common folk'.

I always liked Bill Cosby very much. I remember him when he first started out and I was a 12 or ? years old... I can't remember the exact year now. Sorry about that!

I hope that he does own firearms and pack heat in ANY way!

Wasn't Cosby's son killed by someone with ties to the Russian Mafia?

To my knowledge, he was a liberal type until his son was killed, and now is pro capital punishment.

Just my .02,

Actually, I believe that the family asked that capital punishment be taken off the table for Ennis Cosby's killer.

I do like how Cosby is pro-Personal responsibility and getting an education (at least finish high school) and not acting like a gangster or thug to be successful.

His son Ennis got shot changing a tire on a Mercedes Benz in a bad neighborhood in LA. A mistake, but he still shouldn't have died for it. The thug who shot him after demanding money very likely had no idea who he was and probably didn't care about his skin color, he just saw the expensive car. Terrible situation all around. I would have just driven on the rim to a safer area and bought a new wheel and tire later.

His son being shot and his celebrity does kind of give him a "need" for a CCW license. Considering his character and good works, he clearly is ok to have one. Sadly, bad/crooked/stupid politicians and laws in messed up states, deny many honest people from the ability to get a CCW license and defend themselves. Let's keep things changing for the better. One step at a time.

As far as I know, Bill still lives in the Philly suburbs somewhere, or at least has a house there.

I can believe DeNiro and Harvey Keitel have carry permits, even Howard Stern. But Joan Rivers? Go Joan! :D

Anyway, NYC is run by an elitist, so it doesn't surprise me that celebs can get carry permits there. It's no different than California in that respect.

After his son was murdered the anti's tried to enlist him in their cause. It didn't work. He stated that the killing wasn't the gun's fault. I don't know that he's an RKBA advocate, but he also isn't on the other side.

Sounds like he's too smart for the other side.

I've always liked the Coz and his style of humor. I have really been impressed with his candor in the last ten years. It strikes me that thugs who grew up watching Himself on TV might take a lesson from a man like Bill Cosby. Maybe not, but I can hope and his comments can't hurt.

I'm totally against celebrities' views on just about ANY subject being published and touted as any more important than any of our views.

Celebs know absolutely no more than anyone else unless it comes to how to act or how to play for the cameras on the "Red Carpet".

Many celebs talk about 'gun control policies' as good things but have armed body guards. It must be great to have tons of money and few brain cells.

Bill Cosby is a living legend and a comic genius. IMHO, The Cosby Show is one of the all-time-best TV shows ever.

I have always appreciated what he has had to say to the black community, or really the nation as a whole, about fatherhood, personal accountability, and rising above adversity, instead of wallowing in victimhood. These are the types of ideals our nation was founded on, and the responsible ownership and use of firearms fits right in with this worldview.

Even if he isn't outspokenly pro-RKBA, he still has a great message.

Quote from the linked article:
Examples of current and past New York City permit holders are Senator Charles Schumer, Robert DeNiro, Don Imus, Howard Stern, Ronald Lauder, Edgar Bronfman Sr., Donald Trump, William F. Buckley Jr., Harvey Keitel, Joan Rivers, Arthur Sulzberger, and Bill Cosby.
So now you know who to call when you get assaulted in New York City, since you will be unarmed. Anyone got their cell phone numbers?

Bill Cosby's TV show was wildly successful, but I always liked his stand-up acts better. Of course, after he got older, he wanted to concentrate more on family friendly humor. Although he has joked about doing a blue-humor standup routine and calling it "Bill Cosby Can Swear."

Completely Agree

texas bulldog...I still sing that song to this day. My kids look at me like I am crazy when I do.

Some of my favorite memories are of Bill Cosby doing his stand up routine. The fact that he has CCL makes him that much better in my book. :)

sorry...i just can't think about bill cosby without thinking "dad is great! he gives us the chocolate cake!"

Yeah, it's got everything you need for a breakfast all in one package.
