Bill Drill, drawing and shooting 6 shots into the A zone of an IPSC target range 7 yards.
And the same thing with a two targets reloading between them.

I was wondering what times people have done this in, along with the gear (race type or carry) and what class they shot in. I tried some the other day and just thought I'd see what was the norm.

Last time I tried a Bill Drill it was in an IDPA match. 2.5 seconds from my Uncle Mike's kydex paddle holster. Kimber Eclipse .45

I'm a C class IPSC shooter. Normally I wear a Limcat when I play that game. Same gun, no mods save for the magwell.

I don't regularly do Bill Drills as part of my practice routine, but I rip a few of them off from time to time just for giggles and/or to become accustomed to the timing of the pistol when I make changes. I also do a few on occasion just to review the timer for draws and splits. I have a par time of 1.95-2.10 using my L10 pistol, a single stack Les Baer PII, out of an Uncle Mike's Kydex holster (my Ky-Tac broke), but I don't always get those elusive "all" A hits. Limited Master class. My Bill Drills with my Open blaster are a little faster and run 1.85 to 1.95 out of a Bianchi Hemisphere holster. Open Master class, but I still hit a few C's from time to time. My Bill Drills with my brand spanking new CZ 75B out of a Fobus holster run around 2.20-2.35 seconds. I don't get concerned about the occasional C hit because I am really doing timing drills as opposed to a "pure" Bill Drill.

As far as I am concerned, a Bill Drill is of little value unless the shooter is actually following the front sight (lift and return) through the entire arc, calling the shots, and isolating the action of the trigger finger. Pointing and blasting without regard for the fundamentals is very counter productive. Bill Drills and timing drills are good tools, but I think most folks would be better off concentrating on transitions, the draw and the reload.

I have never done two Bill Drills back to back so I am no help there. I can tell you that my par time reload on an 8 inch plate at ten yards is 1.38 seconds (average of 10 last month) with a fat gun and 1.75 with a single stack.

There is an exhaustive discussion about Bill Drills on Brian Enos' site at: Bill Drills
