From today's CT Post (Bridgeport, CT):

Gun maker Sturm, Ruger said Tuesday that William B. Ruger Jr. will retire as CEO on Fb. 28.

Ruger joined the company 42 years ago; he stepped down as chairman of the Bd. of Directors effective Monday.

The company expects to appoint a successor in the next few months.

More info. is supposedly available on Ruger's corporate Web site.

looks like there is/was an internal power struggle/equity fight.

hopefully ruger will come out of this ok, and start producing good guns as a result.

I would love to see a CEO take over that is willing to take a few more risks then the current management. I have a ton of Ruger guns and I think they make a real quality button.

He was a good man. Worked for a long time at a company he believes in.

I hope he does a lot of shooting and enjoys himself for a long time in retirement.
It's going to be interesting to watch.

SHOT show 2007??

If nominated, I will accept the position. First order of business is to eliminate the new single action lock, then the barrel warnings, then the Mini-14 accuracy/magazine round count. Next, I'll apologize for the "responsible citizen" motto and anti-high cap comments, whether misconstrued, misquoted, and misunderstood or not, as a way to reach out to those who have sworn off Ruger for political reasons only. Those changes, while not costing a bit of capital, should boost sales by at least 10% next year. Ruger is a great American gun company that needs good strong leadership, willing to risk a little to gain a lot.

Do that AND donate ever dime earned from mini-14 sales during the Clinton ban to the JPFO or GOA or other gun rights organization (not NrA) and I'll consider a Ruger.
